2 IN 1 that’s our curriculum to teach you Conversational Chinese/HSK. With this curriculum we provide 2 results in 1 course. You will learn daily life Conversational Chinese and, for those who are interested, have the opportunity to pass HSK exam at the same time. No additional Exam preparation is needed which saves you both money and time.

Intensive 30 and Intensive 20 courses
The Intensive 30 Course is with 30 classes per week our most immersive Course. It focuses on acquiring the highest level of Conversational or Business Chinese, at the same time preparing the student to pass the Chinese HSK exam.
Compared to the Intensive 20 Course the Intensive 30 Course allows for two additional afternoon classes per day in which what has been learned in the morning is being practiced in an effective yet fun way in the afternoon. Apart from that, the Intensive 30 course includes a Friday afternoon out of class Activity: we take the students outside where they can practice their Mandarin in the real world. Class size is small with a maximum of 8 students.
The Intensive Courses are best suited for those who:
• want to acquire a deep knowledge of Mandarin in all its aspects listening, speaking, reading and writing;
• want to learn Mandarin fast and to the fullest;
• prefer to review and practice in the classroom rather than only at home.
Express 30 Course
The increasing importance of HSK has been the reason to design our Express Course. It is undoubtedly the fastest way to pass your HSK exams with good results. In this course we stretch the student’s language skills to the fullest. The class size is with 4 students small.
The Express course is best suited for those who:
• want to sign up for University or apply for a job and now need to pass HSK 4 or 5 as fast as possible;
• quickly need to acquire extra ‘HSK-points’ to get their VISA under the latest VISA rules;

The Method/ School: I have tried to learn Chinese three times (with different teachers/schools) and each time I came out of the classes disappointed and frustrated – I didn’t understand the Chinese sentence structure, I didn’t even want to learn Characters as it seemed way to complicated, etc. Silk Mandarin has a unique method that makes things easy to understand and fun. The courses are well structured and very visual, which makes it a lot easier to remember.
The Teacher: Hannah is a great teacher! She is patient and fun to learn with. I like that she takes the time to make me repeat things at the beginning and at the end of each class. She links the classes/learnings to my personal situation, which makes it more useful for me. Her explanations are clear and it’s a real pleasure to learn Chinese with her.

This school is definitely worth checking out if you are looking for lessons. They'll guide you through the course so you will be able to reach the level. Plenty of outside class support and activities. Great environment. Staff will all challenge you to speak Chinese out side class as well, and very patient if you're lower level.

If you actually want to learn Chinese, study at Silk Mandarin is the best you’re going to be able to find, especially if you’re a beginner. Here are my two main reasons why Silk is worth it: 1. Class Size - The group classes have a limit at 6 students, so you’re guaranteed to get tons of personal attention from your teacher and have the opportunity to speak a lot, which is what you actually need if you’re going to improve, especially at the early levels. 2. Teachers- The teachers here are the best. I had Christina for HSK 1 and 2. She is very patient and very attentive to student’s comprehension. I made a lot of progress by her side. And I hope it will be the same during HSK3 !

This is my 4th year in China and it’s been very challenging to get started learning Chinese.Finally I felt like I need to give myself a push.Shanghai is full of schools ready to provide you with Chinese courses but Silk Mandarin successed to surpass all of them .When I entered their office I was surprised how caring ,attentive ,cheerful and full of enthusiasm their stuff was.It was love at first sight.With the tools and books provided after a short but convincing demo I got inspired and motivated to start ASAP.Since then I never regreted my choice.I came to SM with very basic knowledge but having a private lesson twice a week moved me forward pretty fast.In 2 months I started HSK 3 .My tutor Andy and I became friends from the very first class. She always knew what’s the best way to answer all my silly questions and how to explain the most complicated cultural and grammatical peculiarities built -in Chinese language . I hope very soon my “vocabulary”based HSK3 will grow into “character” based level but it all depends on me now.Thanks,Silk Mandarin for this big step I managed to make.

상해에서 주재원으로 근무한지 두 달 뒤에 중국어의 필요성을 크게 실감하고 Silk Mandarin을 찾게 되었습니다. 모든 수업이 원활히 이루어지도록 도와주는 플래너 Amy를 그 때 처음 만나게 되었고, 유창한 영어와 특유의 친절함으로 마지막 수업까지 불편함이 없도록 도와주었습니다. 저는 저의 선생님 Liwen과 처음 한달은 그룹 클래스로, 다음달은 1:1개인 클래스를 수강하게 되었습니다. 중국어는 아니었지만, 그간 많은 어학학원, 과외등을 거쳐오면서 Liwen 선생님처럼 좋은 선생님을 만나본 적이 없었던 것 같습니다. 인성이나 수업시간 엄수등에 대한 베이직은 물론이고 굉장히 유창한 영어를 구사하셨고, 중국어 교육에 대한 경험이 많으셨기 때문에 매 수업이 유익하고 즐거웠습니다. 규모에 걸맞는 훌륭한 시스템과 훌륭한 선생님들 덕분에 중국어에 대한 재미를 찾을 수 있었고, 덕분에 현재에는 중국에서 생활 생존(?)이 가능한 실력을 갖추게 되었습니다. I have been doing the online course as I am based in Shenzhen and it has exceeded my expectations. My teacher Shirley has been exceptional and I literally look forward to each class. I would highly recommend Silk to anyone trying to learn Chinese. At the time of writing this review, I have only had 12 classes and I have already learnt more Chinese than I have in the previous year of living in China. I initially thought that I have no desire to learn to read the characters, but my ability to speak Chinese has improved as my knowledge of the characters has developed. The flashcards that Silk provide are also an added benefit to anyone who wants to learn as they mean you can continue learning and recognising characters in your own time at your own pace and with your own desired method of learning. Once my lessons are completed I will most certainly be purchasing another package. I feel anyone who wishes to live and work in China and wants to immerse themselves in the culture really should learn a basic level of Chinese. However, be warned, once you start with Silk, a basic level soon becomes something that you will not be satisfied with and you will find yourself wanting to be better every day.

I have been studying with silk Mandarin for around 2-3 months and really enjoy it. I had been learning Chinese previously with another school however I feel at silk Mandarin their teaching style is a lot more structured and fun. Before I started I was offered private classes to catch up on my grammar and character knowledge which then lead me to starting hsk2 level in a group class. I definitely feel more confident with my Chinese than before I started studying at Silk Mandarin.
My teacher is Hannah and I can honestly say she has made learning Chinese so much more interesting and fun with her different methods and explantions. During class we are given different vocabulary cards and asked to create different sentences with each new grammar parts and characters we learn. In my opinion this is very useful, especially for the grammar as I had difficulty with it before.
Although I've only been at Silk Mandarin for a short time I feel I have had a very good learning experience and I am very happy with the progress that I have made. The staff here are all super friendly and helpful with any questions you have. They have a great family culture within the school which makes coming to class very easy and enjoyable.

I started learning Chinese last year with silk mandarin and will continue this year as I can see the results and want to improve more.
They provide you with good and helpful materials, such as books, exercises, vocabulary cards,... The staff is very friendly and always there to help you. The teachers adapt the lesson's speed and difficulty to your level to ensure you with your own best learning experience and a good progress.
The schedule of the different classes can be arranged to fit your needs and they are flexible with arrangements.
The group sizes is not too big (we're 3 students in my class) and depends on you level and schedule.
They also organize some nice social events during the year and not just only teach you the language but you will get to know more about the Chinese culture, too.

The first time I heard about Silk mandarin it was through a friend. My friend in question had another friend who worked there. While the thought of learning chinese attracted me it was not feasible at the time with my schedule. After a while my schedule allowed me enough time to begin my studies and so silk mandarin was my first option after my friends compelling recommendation.
I have now been studying at silk mandarin for over a month. Before enrolling at silk mandarin my chinese level was bare minimum so when I began，at first I had some private lessons to give me the systematic basis I needed to continue ie pinyin. Within month I went from none to hsk one and on then to hsk two. I feel I can now confidently have a basic conversation with a native speaker.
At the moment I am studing hsk two as mentioned before，my teacher Hannah has made learning chinese a breeze with her marvelous explanations and methods. She is very helpful even when it comes down to answering all of my vexing questions. In all honestly I could use a bit of her patience in my daily life. I can not emphasize how brilliant she is.
When I am not at the school I use the magic pen and cards to revise the new vocabulary I have learnt，both the pronounciation and charachters. I can not imagine revision without them they truly are a wonderful and helpful aid especially with all those pesky tones.
Although I have only been at silk mandarin for a short period I could not help but notice that everybody is so close like a small un-orthadox family. They are constantly arranging and running activities for the members and staff that further strenghten relations and although I have yet to make it to an even,t I am sure that there will be many more to come were I can make my appearance.
Silk Mandarin is located in jingan in the SOHO building and super easy to find. The office itself is very cozy, its a bright and uplifting environment aswell as being warm and welcoming. The moment you enter， you are greeted by smiling faces and the smell of freshly brewed coffee. Once seated in one of their classrooms you engulfed in a whole new bubble of comfort and security with the freedom to work at your own optimum pace.
Everyone at silk mandarin has been nothing but nice to me from the very begining whether it be the receptionist welcoming you when you enter or the chats between classes with other staff and students while everyone is refueling with coffee. Every one has a mutual understanding and interest in bettering themselves and taking on the task of learning chinese and that has brought them all together under the one roof. Any questions you have will not go unanswered，anytime you need help, someone is there to lend you a hand.
I am thoroughly confident to entrust silk mandarin with my chinese studies and I will continue to recommend them whenever possible as so far, the results have astounded my collegues and I, as well as others around me. Not to brag but yes the results are very positive and I could not have done it alone.

I studied with Silk Mandarin for several months and I was always excited to go to class and to see all of the staff and the other students. I felt really welcome every time I entered the school and the teachers were all incredibly friendly, helpful and patient. My Chinese improved drastically as soon as I started at Silk Mandarin and after taking classes for around six months I passed the HSK 3 exam. I could really tell that the teachers wanted me to profit as much as possible and would answer all of the millions of questions I always had. I also made a lot of great friends at the school and looking back I’m really happy to have picked Silk Mandarin. Thank you very much for everything!
