The school was established in 1986 and is part of the inlingua International network which is the world’s largest association of independent language schools. inlingua Washington DC is proudly accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation. CEA is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a national accrediting agency for English language programs and institutions in the U.S. Additionally, inlingua Washington DC is an Official TOEFL Testing Center for the iBT TOEFL, an Official Testing Center for the TOEIC Test, and the largest Official IELTS Testing Center in the US. For students who want to maximize their study time in the USA, Inlingua’s new Intensive Plus Program is the way to go! With 28 classroom hours per week, this program will accelerate students’ academic improvement of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.

By integrating our successful Oral Track program into our Standard English Program, students in the Intensive Plus program will acquire stronger communication skills in listening and speaking. The Intensive Plus Program is offered at all levels, including the general ESL levels beginner through advanced, as well as for all test preparation courses and advanced-level English for Specific Purposes.

Also, students enrolled in the Intensive Plus Program get special assistance from our Student Service Department with their University applications! Students may begin their course on any Monday.

These special test preparation package provide rigorous and intensive training for all sections of the exams using the most advances curriculum and methodologies. Students are trained to achieve success on the IELTS, TOEFL or Cambrige Exams and gain confidence in taking regular practice tests. We are official test center for all of these exams.

Inlingua is the only official IELTS testing center and the biggest in the US. Our teachers have training from the IELTS organization and know what examiners look for in a candidate response. Students will use 6 full-length IELTS exams and textbooks developed by the maker of the exam.

CAMBRIDGE EXAMS (FCE and CAE): Cambridge examinations are known worldwide and recognized by universities, employers, and national education authorities in many countries as evidence of meeting required standards in English. The exams can be the first step to international university admissions, better employment opportunities, and more choices for study or work. Inlingua is the only Cambridge official test center in the area. Students will prepare using real FCE and CAE exams and textbooks developed by the maker of the exam. The courses deal systematically with areas of vocabulary development and use regular diagnostic exams to measure student progress. The course and the official examination will be administered at inlingua Washington DC.

TOEFL: The TOEFL iBT exam measures candidates’ ability to use and understand English at the university level. It also evaluates how well they combine listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills to perform academic tasks.

Our course uses TOEFL preparation material developed by the maker of the exam, and uses software that approximates the timed, multiple-choice TOEFL iBT. Inlingua Washington DC is an official TOEFL/iBT examination center. The course and the official examination will be administered at inlingua Washington DC. Recently, we inaugurated our brand new computer/language lab with more than 30 state-of-the-art work stations that allow us to accommodate the increased demand for learning and teaching technology.

Pre-TOEFL: We also offer a Pre-TOEFL class that provides opportunities for intermediate students to identify and develop necessary skills to pass the TOEFL exam. A practice TOEFL test designed by ETS is included.
