All foreign students must take an English-language test to enter into an American college or university. The TOEFL iBT (internet-based test) is the most common test for this purpose, and over 9,000 colleges and universities in North America accept results from this test. There are 3 locations in the Salt Lake City area to take this test, and it's usually offered every two weeks.

A TOEFL Prep class is offered here in the Annex Building every Monday and Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. Students learn question types, preparation strategies, test-taking strategies, common vocabulary on the test, note-taking strategies, and more. The class is open to all ELI students as well as members of the community.
