AMERICAN ENGLISH STANDARD PROGRAM
Manhattan Language’s Standard Program includes a Speaking and Listening class and an Integrated Skills class. In the Speaking and Listening class you will focus on developing your communication skills through class discussion, role-play, debate and many other kinds of exercises. In Integrated Skills class, you will work on improving your grammar knowledge and reading and writing skills. There are 10 levels so you will always be in the class that’s right for you.


AMERICAN ENGLISH INTENSIVE PROGRAM
Manhattan Language’s Intensive Program includes a Speaking and Listening class and an Integrated Skills class and a Signature Elective class. In the Speaking and Listening class you will focus on developing your communication skills through class discussion, role-play, debate and many other kinds of exercises. In Integrated Skills class, you will work on improving your grammar knowledge and reading and writing skills. The Signature Elective classes allow you to focus on a specific interest. You can choose from Business English, Academic Skills, English through Film, and Speaking and Pronunciation.


AMERICAN ENGLISH FOR TOURISTS PROGRAM
The Tourist Program program allows you to take the same classes as the Standard Program, but is eligible for students with a Tourist Visa. This program includes a Speaking and Listening class and an Integrated Skills class. In the Speaking and Listening class you will focus on developing your communication skills through class discussion, role-play, debate and many other kinds of exercises. In Integrated Skills class, you will work on improving your grammar knowledge and reading and writing skills. There are 10 levels so you will always be in the class that’s right for you. This program leaves you a lot of time to explore New York and enjoy your time here.


SIGNATURE ELECTIVE CLASSES
With the American English Standard Program, the American English Intensive Program or the American English for Tourist Programs, you can also take elective classes in the following subjects:

- Speaking and Pronunciation
- Academic Skills
- English Through Film
- Business English
- TOEFL Prep

FREE ENGLISH TRIAL CLASS
The best way to experience Manhattan Language’s excellent classes is to try to one for yourself! Just come an hour before the beginning of class so that we can give you a free placement test to decide your level. By taking a real class at our school, you will see if Manhattan Language is a good fit for you. You are welcome to take all of the following classes:

- Speaking & Listening: These classes are part of our General English program and focus on developing speaking and listening skills through class discussion, role-play, debate and many other kinds of exercises.
- Integrated Skills: These classes are also part of our General English program and focus on learning grammar and developing reading and writing skills. Depending on the day you try a class, you might be learning a specific grammar point, practicing reading real texts, or learning how to write an essay.
- Signature Elective Classes: In the afternoon we offer specialized classes that allow you to focus on a specific interest. You can choose from Business English, Academic Skills, English through Film, and Speaking and Pronunciation.

TOEFL TEST PREPARATION PROGRAM
Manhattan Language offers a 12 week TOEFL Preparation Program with a customized curriculum. In this advanced-level class you will focus on improving the reading, listening, writing and speaking skills you will need to succeed on the TOEFL exam. The experienced TOEFL teacher will help you prepare for each part of the exam with practice tests, computer-based learning, and helpful test-taking strategies.

- Learn from a TOEFL instructor with twelve years of experience.
- Take 6 full practice tests over the 12-week period.
- Learn supplemental skills such as note taking and vocabulary building.
- Learn strategies for each type of question in each section of the TOEFL test
- Learn time-management skills
- Develop skills that will help you in college or university

EVENING BUSINESS ENGLISH
In the Evening Business English class, students will learn to function effectively in an English work environment. The class will cover a wide range of business language skills:

- Presentations
- Networking
- Negotiation
- Telephoning
- Business Writing

Each week, the class will introduce new vocabulary and commonly used business idioms. Students will participate in real problem solving activities to practice their business English communication skills. There will also be class time to review specific problem areas in grammar and speaking that relate to the activities. The goal is to make students feel more comfortable and more confident working in an English speaking environment.

- Speaking and Pronunciation: Focus on clear, accurate speech with lots of guided practice. Learn useful vocabulary and build the confidence you need to speak English.
- Academic Skills: Build the skills you will need to continue your education in American colleges and universities. Practice listening to lectures, working on group projects and writing academic essays.
- English Through Film: Improve your vocabulary and enhance your understanding of language and culture by watching famous movies and participating in discussions.
- Business English: Learn to communicate clearly in business situations such as interviews, presentations and meetings. Learn work-related vocabulary and idioms and improve your business writing.
- TOEFL Prep: Begin to prepare for the TOEFL exam. This class is for intermediate-level students who want to improve their skills before moving on to our TOEFL test preparation program.
