Find online materials to learn languages which are right for you

First think of a topic which interests you the most at the moment – tourism, international news, celebrity lifestyle? The choice is yours. Search for the chosen topic online. You can also use podcasts, but it’s best if they have a transcription (in this case first listen to the podcast and the use the transcript).

How to know which material will be right for you? Read or listen to the first few sentences, if you don’t know the majority of the words then this is not the right choice for you. Search for something a bit easier.

Read briefly for the first time

You made your choice, now it’s time to read. When you read the text for the first time don’t focus on the vocabulary which is new to you, but rather on the general sense of the whole article. While you read you can underline the words that you don’t know.

Work on new vocabulary

Now get back to all the words you underlined, find out what they mean and how to use them correctly. To remember them better you can divide them into groups with similar meaning or by parts of the speech. Add new vocabulary to your repetition schedule.

Read again and identify the used grammatical structures

It’s time to read the text again and focus on the used grammatical structures and name them. If you don’t know any of them, find out more about it. Add it to your notebook – what does the grammatical structure consist of, how and when to use it and give some examples.

Find questions or theses and share your opinion

If there are any questions in the text or any theses are made respond to them in writing. You can also describe your experiences related to the topic or just comment on the article. In this step you can use the new vocabulary.
