The English Language Institute (ELI) at the College of Staten Island/The City University of New York (CUNY) offers an exciting and innovative academic program for students learning English as a second language. Our course of study is designed to challenge and engage students. Students are immersed in the language, culture, and the ethnicity of New York City.

ELI offers semester and summer terms of 18 and 22 hours of class per week. Students can also join the groups that have already started the semester or summer term and study as many weeks as possible. Students have courses such as reading and writing, grammar, conversation, and TOEFL test preparation workshops with a final TOEFL ITP test, which lets students apply for any CUNY school degree.

Students in our program are entitled to use all the facilities available on campus such as the pool, tennis, basketball, racquetball courts, and fitness center. Students can also attend any lectures or workshops they feel would enhance their own learning experience. We invite you to come and see our beautiful campus. The English Language Institute offers intensive English instruction for international students and professionals. The program is comprehensive. The English Language Institute designs and implements programs for executives, managers, and technical specialists who are engaged in or are planning business activities in the United States. The program is highly specialized to meet the unique needs of individuals and groups. Materials are researched and prepared to have direct relevance to the conduct of business in the participants' fields. The principal objective is to help participants become efficient and confident users of English and to facilitate all aspects of business and social interaction with their English-speaking counterparts.

ELI Online Programs available:

1. Full-time: ELI Online Intensive English Program (Reading/Writing/Grammar/TOEFL/Conversation)
2. Part-time: Reding/Writing/Grammar/TOEFL or Conversation

Full/Part-time features:

Duration: 6-week summer program (Summer 1 and Summer 2)
Days: Monday to Thursday
Schedule: 9:00 am to 1:00 pm / 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm (New York time)
Cost:

Full-time: US$ 50 Registration Fee + US$ 1,080 Tuition Fee
Part-time: US$ 50 Registration Fee + US$ 540 Tuition Fee

Online Intensive English Program

The ELI Online Intensive English Program is offered to students who would like to focus on reading and writing skills, grammar lessons, a TOEFL test preparation, and a conversation course. The 6-week program will have 4 lessons per week, four hours per day, from Monday to Thursday, in the morning or in the evening.

Program content

This program is ideal for students who would like to improve writing, reading, listening, and speaking skills from the comfort of their home. Teachers will discuss several topics, build vocabulary, writing strategies, grammar rules in context, conversation skills, pronunciation, and a short workshop with a TOEFL test preparation, which will allow students to take the digital TOEFL ITP test at the end of the term.
