CME is the English Language Centre of Macquarie University, Sydney, and is located centrally on the beautiful University campus. Ranked in the top 200 universities in the world by The Times’ Higher Education Supplement, Macquarie University is distinguished by the range and quality of its courses. CME offers a wide range of specialized, direct entry English programs, developed with University academics, so students can choose the program that best suits their study plans and develop skills they need to succeed. Our teachers are highly qualified, most have postgraduate qualifications in teaching English and many are qualified IELTS examiners. In fact, CME is a major accredited IELTS Test Centre so students can easily take the IELTS test. CME also offers IELTS Online, two acclaimed web-based courses, IELTS Master and IELTS Express, designed to help students thoroughly prepare for the IELTS test. After class students can use the CME library as well as the web-based English learning materials on CME Online. Our students experience much more than an excellent teaching and learning environment! Macquarie University English Language Centre offers a TESOL program ideal for both current and trainee English teachers with an overall IELTS test result of 5.5 - 6 (Academic Module) or equivalent.
This program allows teachers to participate in TESOL Methodology Workshops and also to improve their English language skills.
While the program is presented at an English language level below that for university entrance, the topics and issues covered are similar to those in certified TESOL training courses. This program can be used as preparation for further study, or as personal development for teachers who are already qualified.
