More Than English international summer school for ambitious students 11-17 years old (July-August 2020)

Ludlow summer school

I really like the school, it has a great view. I like my room, it is quite small but it's nice. The school looks like Harry Potter, it's amazing because in Harry Potter you also go upstairs to the residence. The campus is so big, with lots of space and so many activities (swimming, football, tennis).

The activities are amazing because you can go to London, Oxford and other sights that you wouldn't visit with your family. My favourite evening was the mocktails and paintball.

We have a nice, funny teacher. Joanna teaches us very well, we have learned a lot of English. My English is much better than before I came here because I went to other summer camps in Spain but there were only Spanish people so I only spoke in English with the teachers. But in More than English I speak English to real English people and put my English in practice. For example, when go to a shop I talk with the shopkeeper and she responds to me. It's difficult but I can do it! In one week you are accustomed to talking in English.

For get Ahead I did football and tennis, I really liked it. I played these sports when I was a kid, the teachers were so funny and they play with you.

As for the food, the food is so different because in Spain we eat much later and here we eat so early. So, sometimes I need a snack later. My favourite food was chicken kiev. Next year I would to have more meat, like steak.

I would like to come again, but next time I want to come for 3 or 4 weeks!

More Than English

Campus.
For three weeks I lived on a beautiful campus with a large sports ground and a swimming pool. From our dormitories it took a two minute walk to our classrooms. Depending on the weather, we often spend our breaks outside.
Accommodation.
Our dormitories are really large. I share my room with five other girls. It would be better if there were wardrobes. In my opinion the bathrooms could be cleaner, but it is understandable that you cannot keep everything clean when there are 30 girls to shower, brush their teeth and etc.
Food.
Our breakfast always consists of typical English foods like scrambled eggs and bacon. For lunch and dinner we often have international foods sometimes very spicy, curry or tortilla wraps, sometimes pasta with tomato and olives. For me as a vegan, it took a while to make the stuff understand what I can eat and what I can't. But after a few days I received amazing food.
Core English.
My core English lessons have probably been the best lessons I have ever had. They were different, because we talked about topics like self actualization, sustainability and meditation. In other words things they could help us to improve our life quality. We had lots of fun with our teacher Jay while we were collecting ideas for film projects, poems, stories and discussions.
Get ahead.
I chose Shakespeare as my get ahead option. Four times a week we discovered the dark, medieval world of Macbeth. We spent our time with reading, watching, acting and the interpretation of the play, I really enjoyed it.
International experience. The experience I made with people from all around the world is an experience I will never forget. I was able to talk to students with a total of 16 nationalities and make friends with many of them. We will definitely stay in contact with each other.
All in all. I hope I have the opportunity to come back next year, because those three weeks I spent in MTE summer school are unforgettable.

More than English

On this course I like the people, I think it's nice.

I like all the activities, my favourite was the cocktails night. We didn't win but we liked it anyway. My Get Ahead option is tennis and I like my teacher and he's good at tennis and is kinda and patient.

I like the room and my roommates are nice, even though I came later they made me feel welcome.

I like the food but I would prefer to have two options. My favourite meal was chilli with rice.

The lessons were nice because we talked about real things and did debates. We talked about traditional foods from our country and it was interesting. I feel my confident speaking English and I have learned some new things.

Summer school

More Than English is a summer school in England which is designed to make boys and girls learn English in different ways, such as, but not limited to, different activities.

One of the advantages of this campus is the fact that you can meet people coming from different nationalities. All the way from Poland to Brazil. It gives you the chance to create friendships and to learn about different countries and traditions.

As for the food, it's not to my taste but I like the breakfast. I would prefer if there were two food options everyday so if you don't like one meal you can have the other.

Furthermore, the activities are very fun and vivacious, for example, today I’m very excited because in the afternoon we’ll do paintball. Doing all of these different activities gives you the possibility to use English in different ways and I believe it’s very helpful if you want to learn a language.

More than English

I like the activities, my favorite was bubble football. I like going swimming, playing tennis and archery.

I like the barbecues but I would like to have soup for dinner everyday.

I like my room but I want more boys in my room. I think 4 or 5 is best.

My favorite excursion was London because it was interesting and fun.

My teacher is fantastic.

Summer school

Let’s start with the amazing campus! Imagine living in a palace with huge gardens, a swimming pool and rooms. As for the accommodation, I loved my bedroom! It was huge and there were views of the land. Plus, the house parents were so kind!

As for the English lessons, they were fantastic! The teacher, Joanna, is good! Everyday we write a text: reviews, articles, essays. What I learnt is really going to help me with school work back in Russia.

I really liked the Get Ahead options. I chose the business course and golf. I have never played golf before and trying something new was fantastic. Another big plus about More Than English is the mix of nationalities. I met other teenagers from Brazil, Ukraine, Italy, France, Spain..

I have never been in summer school before. We had a lot of exams in Russia. All in all, more than English was the perfect chance for me to use my English. Finally, I’m going back home with a new ambition. I want to be a businessman.

Summer camp

First, I will write the beautiful campus. It is very old and big. When I went the first time inside of Moor Park school I was so excited, because it is like a real Harry Potter school. It had so many doors, rooms and stairs. Outside you have a lot of options, which you can do in the break time.
As for the accommodation: The bedrooms are fantastic. I like the colour of the wall in my room…is light blue. We have a big window in our room and I can see every day the sun and the moon. I share my room two other girls they are twins and they are very nice.
I love the get ahead lessons because we had so many options. I chose for the first week dance and for the second week I chose tennis. Yesterday, I danced the first time and that was very funny and very hard. I think tennis will be also very funny and hard too.
Here there are so many people from different nationalities. That is very good, because we speak more English. It is very interesting to speak with other teenagers because they all had another culture. Most of my friends are all from different countries, I’m very happy about it because I can practice my English better.

The Core English lessons are very good. I never like English lessons so much as I liked here. We do a lot of cool things, yesterday we played funny games. Here is an example: Joanna showed us a picture is real or not and when we we right got a point.

More than English

Campus
This campus is very big and old. I’ve never seen anything like this, it’s really unique. The whole campus is in the park or forest (I’m not really sure). It’s quite here, you can hear just how birds sing. The rooms are big.

Accommodation
The House Parents are really kind and I like them a lot. The students which share with me the room are friendly and nice.
Food
The food is not that bad. I was scared of food because I’m choosy in food. And the food is OK.
Core English Lessons
The English lessons are fine. In the class I’m little bit shy so I’m not that active, but everybody respect that and they are kind. The teacher is really nice!
Get Ahead Lessons
I chose dance. I’m a really terrible dancer!!!But I want to try it, so why not. It was fun, like yeah I was really horrible but I laughed so hard. The only thing I hate about it is we must show it to others and that it is on youtube…
International experience
There are many French, Spanish and Italian people and they often talk their language but itš not that bad as it was.
Special features
All in all I tried many new things and many new things I will try. I met many nice and kind people!

Moor Park

Campus
Moor Park is a very beautiful and old school. This is a place with huge gardens, a swimming pool. This campus is next to a village, Ludlow, very beautiful village, with amazing architecture.
Accommodation
As for the accommodation, I liked my bedroom, it was huge with 5 other students who were all from other countries so I improved my English and the house parents were so funny and kind.
Food
Let’s start with the breakfast , there was always cereal. There are often some bacon and eggs but I’m not used to eat that so I don’t very like it.
Core English lessons
English lessons were so good, it was funny and also we learnt English. Our teacher Emma was so kind with us.
Get Ahead lessons
I chose tennis, and it was fantastic, the teacher ( Jack) was so kind and funny with us.
International experience
I met other teenagers from Italy, Brazil, Ukraine, Spain, Czech Republic, Russia. We were all time together so everyone was very eager to talk English.
Special features
I’ve done summer schools before But I really prefer this one because we had the choice on the excursion and activity.

Moor Park

Campus
At first the campus is located in Moor Park and has a large area. Second, the campus has swimming pool, golf fields, forest, buildings where we play games such as volleyball, archery, handball and etc. , of course there castle where we live.
Accommodation
As for me, I like my bedroom. It’s huge but bed is too hard. But anyway there is home atmosphere and we have snacks every day before sleeping.
Core English lessons
Personally, I like those lessons. Teacher is fantastic. She always explains us if we don’t understand anything. She doesn’t give us homework, only when we haven’t done the exercise.
Get Ahead Options
The same teachers are in Get Ahead Options. They are funny and explain things which we don’t understand.
Special features
On the other hand this summer school has big advantages. You have a choice. It means you can choose activity and excursion which you want. I have never seen it in other summer schools.
All in all
Finally I think this school is the best school that I have ever been to. It has only two minuses: food and bathroom.
