In the most cases a language could help you a lot. You will explore countries in a different way, you could have friends all over the world and maybe you will get also the job you like. But to prove your language skills, you need one or more language certificates. These certificates can show your level and also what each level exactly means. For European languages for example the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages is decisive.
One of these languages is Portuguese which is not only spoken in Europe, in Portugal, but also in South America, in Brazil. Of course you could visit the countries with or without Portuguese, but if you want to work in one of these countries and if you want to work with the Portuguese language, a language certificate would be very helpful and useful.
And it is always better to have a document where your language skills are confirmed!
