It is not long ago that a new website is launched which provides agents and students with comparative results for different types of international English exams.
What’s the tool?
The tool on the website EnglishExams.co.uk is developed by Tim Shoben who is the Director of Islington Centre for English in the UK. It allows language learners and other visitors to enter a score from one recognised test and convert to scores from 17 other exams:
- Cambridge English Scale
- Cambridge First
- Cambridge Advanced
- Cambridge Proficiency
- BEC Preliminary
- BEC Vantage
- BEC Higher
- TOEFL IBT
- Trinity GESE
- NQF ESOL
- Trinity ISE
- PTE Academic
The tool was designed for university and for English language school administrators, but also for students, agents, employers and employees who could print out the list of equivalents and take it for example to a job interview to have more information about their English skills.
In addition, you could also check the nearest test centres for each exam in the United Kingdom. (But they want to extend the system that it works across the world.) There you could search for the city or for the exam you want to pass.
Another feature on the page is that you get all information about the different language exams. So you can check the main parts of each exam and who should pass it to get the language certificate.
The last part of the website is the section “Test your English”. There you have to answer a few questions and the Islington Centre for English in London will send you the results via mail. In addition, there is no time limit to answer the question. So you have enough time to think about every answer and to make effort.
