Winter markets around the world

Depending on where you live and whether you choose calendar-based or astronomical reckoning of winter, this cold and white season may have already started for you or is about to start.

When we think of winter usually playing in snow, hot cocoa, blankets and cozily reading books in your armchair come to mind. Or at least that’s the dream. It’s somewhat a magical season of the year, when with a little luck everything is covered in white, cold fluff, our are cheeks are rosy and wanting to warm up is a great excuse for hugging.

Christmas markets are a popular event in the winter time. They usually start in late November or early December and last until Christmas. Although they’re called Christmas markets and have a lot to do with the special holiday, they can be enjoyed even if there still a lot of time left until the 25th of December or even if you don’t celebrate Christmas.

There are many things you can do at such a market. You can take exciting pictures, go “window shopping” and just look around, try local foods and drinks, buy local crafts

In some countries Christmas markets have evolved and transformed into Winter Wonderlands, where except for season-themed delicacies and crafts there are plenty of attractions and ways to have fun.

Berlin, Germany

In Berlin you can experience the Winter World on Potsdamer Platz. Attractions include a toboggan run, an ice rink, curling, winter food and delicacies, crafts and gift ideas. You can also watch over 100 000 lights illuminating the Sony Center. There is even a party with a DJ, so come prepared!
