Our Curriculum 2 IN 1
2 IN 1 that’s our curriculum to teach you Conversational Chinese/HSK. With this curriculum we provide 2 results in 1 course. You will learn daily life Conversational Chinese and, for those who are interested, have the opportunity to pass HSK exam at the same time. No additional Exam preparation is needed which saves you both money and time.

Intensive 30 and Intensive 20 courses
The Intensive 30 Course is with 30 classes per week our most immersive Course. It focuses on acquiring the highest level of Conversational or Business Chinese, at the same time preparing the student to pass the Chinese HSK exam.
Compared to the Intensive 20 Course the Intensive 30 Course allows for two additional afternoon classes per day in which what has been learned in the morning is being practiced in an effective yet fun way in the afternoon. Apart from that, the Intensive 30 course includes a Friday afternoon out of class Activity: we take the students outside where they can practice their Mandarin in the real world. Class size is small with a maximum of 8 students.
The Intensive Courses are best suited for those who:
• want to acquire a deep knowledge of Mandarin in all its aspects listening, speaking, reading and writing;
• want to learn Mandarin fast and to the fullest;
• prefer to review and practice in the classroom rather than only at home.
Express 30 Course
The increasing importance of HSK has been the reason to design our Express Course. It is undoubtedly the fastest way to pass your HSK exams with good results. In this course we stretch the student’s language skills to the fullest. The class size is with 4 students small.
The Express course is best suited for those who:
• want to sign up for University or apply for a job and now need to pass HSK 4 or 5 as fast as possible;
• quickly need to acquire extra ‘HSK-points’ to get their VISA under the latest VISA rules;
• want to challenge themselves and see how fast they can master Mandarin.

Our Summer Camp is ideal for parents who want to give their children a head start in learning Mandarin and get to know China! They will be immersed not only in the Chinese language but as much so in its culture. Apart from that there will be plenty of time to socialise with the other children and go on interesting and fun excursions. We specialise in providing a safe, fun, motivating, and educational environment for all kids. Our full time camp is best suited for children in the age of 13 - 17 yrs.

First, I want to say that Silk Mandarin is by far the best school there is to learn Chinese. I have tried many other schools and most recently I tried studying at Jiaotong University. I wasn't happy with all their teaching methods. Specifically with Jiaotong the classes were to big, and there was no feeling of connection with the teachers. My good friend Alex gave me the recommendation to try Silk Mandarin. After the first trial, I was hooked. One thing I love is their use of the flash cards. These are really creative and help me a lot with my reading and vocabulary. The most important thing though is it helps with my grammar. Jessica was my first teacher, and she helped me so much. I needed to start HSK3 intensive course, but I never studied characters before. She used these cards by making me create sentences, and it made the class fun. Again, it wasn't just learning vocabulary and characters. This helped tremendously with my grammar. Jessica is such an enthusiastic and motivated teacher. After all our sessions, I was sad to leave her class. Teaching Chinese is her passion, and you can see that every time you walk into the classroom. David and Marsha are both my teachers now for HSK3. Once I met David, I knew this intensive course was going to be so much fun. David gives off a very welcoming vibe. We joke about each other and share stories. He is also super knowledgeable about characters. He knows anything and everything about radicals and how to help remember these new characters you start to learn. Marsha has been helping me now for a few weeks with extra practice on material learned from the intensive course. She helps me review translations and answers any other questions I have that I missed. The most recent grammar structure I learned was "把“. It didn't sink in totally after the first class, so she grabbed a separate grammar book with multiple examples in English. I then translated these into Chinese, and she continued to help through step by step. Overall the teachers are all professional, patient, and outgoing. They truly care about your learning experience no matter if you are doing part time or full time. It's a family at Silk. I am real happy with my decision studying here, and I suggest to everyone to at least try it for yourself.

My teacher was patient and knowledgeable and even introduced me to a lot of useful resources for self study. Through over five months of one-on-one lessons at Silk Mandarin my experience has been excellent. Having tried a couple of other schools and teachers here in Shanghai, I’ve found Silk to be a very personal and professional team. They helped me craft a schedule and package that worked with my budget and time availability. In terms of methodology I was hesitant at first to commit to learning to read characters, but based on their recommendation I decided to give it a try. As predicted it was an important factor in enabling a solid breakthrough in terms of my quickly learning new vocabulary and more completely understanding the nuances of the language. My teacher Jasmine was able to help me quickly progress through HSK level 3 and has enabled a new level of confidence in my speaking and understanding. I would highly recommend the school to anyone looking to make a studious effort to learning Mandarin.

One of the friendliest atmospheres of any language school that I've attended. Teachers and staff are personable and welcoming and offer a great environment to hang out and casually practice Chinese outside of class.
I've been taking 1 on 1 classes for a few months now and my experience has been nothing short of excellent. My teacher, Yanqin, has not only been a great instructer but also has a fun (and patient!) personality. Under her tutelage my Chinese has improved considerably and most importantly my understanding of China and its unique cultural heritage has been deeply enriched.
For anyone with a busy work schedule considering taking Chinese classes, Silk Mandarin couldn't be a better choice. Flexibility of teachers and staff and homey environment make Silk Mandarin a fun and engaging place to learn and improve your Chinese

I started studying Chinese at Silk Mandarin after two of my friends with excellent Chinese highly recommended them. I had already lived in China for 2 years while working full-time and studying (in a half-assed way) on the side and had taken 1 year of university Chinese. But I felt really inspired at Silk Mandarin that my studying was going to pay off, which energized me a lot. One great part was that I was able to dictate what I wanted to learn and what would be useful for my work and daily life. That in and of itself was great, but it's not the thing that sets Silk Mandarin apart from other schools I've gone to. Instead the big things these guys do is teach you the logic of the language, using a very straightforward and easy to understand method, but one that I'd never heard anything about before in university or other private schools. Once my teacher started teaching me this, so many pieces were coming together for me in terms of sentence structure and how Chinese works. I think my language was really inconsistent before and I was never sure where to put which words because I knew different rules but not a unified one. So I'd say these guys are incredibly friendly and flexible and cool, but they also really know their stuff. I'm a native English-speaking editing/writing professional who majored in lit and my Chinese teacher knows the English parts of speech better than I do-- you have to understand language to teach it and these guys have it down :)

I am currently at HSK 2 and the guidance from my teacher is extremely commendable, she is patient with all my doubts and helps me in every step with the best possible ways. I am really glad I got to know about this school. I would really recommend it to beginners for building a solid foundation with all the structured grammar that is delivered in class. It is flexible and also interesting to learn with the videos and audios that are recorded for the lessons. It only makes the study more engaging.

I attended the HSK 1 online course with Silk Mandarin from June to November 2024.
It was a very positive experience. The school managed to organize a course in a short time, accommodating the schedules and needs of all participants.
Personally, I studied with Jane. Jane is a very attentive, supportive, and well-prepared teacher. Moreover, she patiently explained even the most complex grammatical aspects for us students.

Even when I was learning the basic Chinese statements for 3 months before to arrive to Shanghai, once arrived, It was almost impossible to detect the words and accent from people and they also didn't understood me.
Some colleagues with more time living in Shanghai has been studying in Silk Mandarin and they recommend me to start. It was the best decision I made.
My Teacher Nina, is super comprenhensive, the way and technique to help you understand on how to start and then develop your daily life with simple phrases and key words from inside and outside the books.
I think this is the culture from Silk Mandarin, they will help you to learn Chinese with tools, technique, metodologies, etc. But the most important, they will listen your needs and they will be as flexible as needed to add it to the class and help you on that.
