Our Curriculum 2 IN 1
2 IN 1 that’s our curriculum to teach you Conversational Chinese/HSK. With this curriculum we provide 2 results in 1 course. You will learn daily life Conversational Chinese and, for those who are interested, have the opportunity to pass HSK exam at the same time. No additional Exam preparation is needed which saves you both money and time.

Intensive 30 and Intensive 20 courses
The Intensive 30 Course is with 30 classes per week our most immersive Course. It focuses on acquiring the highest level of Conversational or Business Chinese, at the same time preparing the student to pass the Chinese HSK exam.
Compared to the Intensive 20 Course the Intensive 30 Course allows for two additional afternoon classes per day in which what has been learned in the morning is being practiced in an effective yet fun way in the afternoon. Apart from that, the Intensive 30 course includes a Friday afternoon out of class Activity: we take the students outside where they can practice their Mandarin in the real world. Class size is small with a maximum of 8 students.
The Intensive Courses are best suited for those who:
• want to acquire a deep knowledge of Mandarin in all its aspects listening, speaking, reading and writing;
• want to learn Mandarin fast and to the fullest;
• prefer to review and practice in the classroom rather than only at home.
Express 30 Course
The increasing importance of HSK has been the reason to design our Express Course. It is undoubtedly the fastest way to pass your HSK exams with good results. In this course we stretch the student’s language skills to the fullest. The class size is with 4 students small.
The Express course is best suited for those who:
• want to sign up for University or apply for a job and now need to pass HSK 4 or 5 as fast as possible;
• quickly need to acquire extra ‘HSK-points’ to get their VISA under the latest VISA rules;
• want to challenge themselves and see how fast they can master Mandarin.

Our Curriculum 2 PLUS 1
2 PLUS 1 that’s our curriculum to teach you Business Chinese/BCT. As a basis for our Business Chinese teaching we use our Conversational/HSK teaching 2 IN 1. On top of that, we add vocabulary, structures and phrases on Business Chinese topics, so indeed 2 PLUS 1.

Having tried different schools and tuition approaches I find that Silk Mandarin offers a great approach, with experienced actual teachers, that provide not just a structured learning experience but also a wider context to help with the challenge.
Many schools and tutors claim to be qualified and experienced, but this is often not the case. At Silk mandarin all the teachers are qualified and very experienced. In addition there is always a teacher available to fit with any type of schedule that might be needed to fit a busy work schedule.

- both online and on site courses possible: they are very flexible in changing (also during lockdown)
- different tools to keep learning and learn in different ways: homework with listening task provided on the website, specific courses in the APP Quizlet to learn vocabulary, an online Platform for online Courses with all tools you need to cooperate, ...
- small classes or individual courses
- they also teach you to read or write (via computer not handwriting) Chinese characters --> I didn't expect, but it is an big advantage to be able to read characters.

I've tried self-studying and online classes before but never made any significant progress in my Mandarin learning until Silk Mandarin. Sarah is a great teacher and does a wonderful job in mixing up lessons to keep your learning fresh. Silk Mandarin also provides a number of useful supplemental tools so you can continue to learn outside of class. Perfect place not only for learning Chinese. A great community and placeto jump straightforward into the Chinese culture and lifestyle thanks to their many extra curriculum activities and fun open days.
The classes are great, very easy to follow and understand with many interactive teacher - student activities. The school also provides with many materials to use outside class hours to review and at any moment at home on your phone or laptop.

Starting HSK3 felt like an impossible and mammoth task. I nearly didn’t even start the course. However when I met Lindsay, she filled me with confidence and self belief. I knew no characters (not even simple ones such as 我) and wasn’t confident with HSK2 despite passing the exam. Lindsay carefully assessed my prior knowledge and dedicated her personal time to ensure that my lessons were personal to my level and purposeful rather than always using the Official PPTs. Throughout the review time, Lindsay was patient and always checked that the pace was manageable. She constantly checked that I retained the new information by using PPTs, Quizes, Flashcards etc. Throughout the HSK3 course I always felt listened to, Lindsay would write notes on what I wasn’t confident with and use these to plan the next lessons. There were many days I was exhausted from work but Lindsay would spot these days and quickly adapt plans to ensure that my lesson was active and I stayed in engaged. I never felt dumb for instantly forgetting a character or having a mind blank, instead Lindsay used this moment to teach me interesting and fun ways to remember the characters. I finished the course 1 month before my exam. I was blown away at the review sessions Lindsay planned for me. She went through every HSK3 character with me and created practise exam questions using the characters that were unfamiliar to me. This must have taken her hours and I am truly grateful for this! Looking back, I can’t believe how much I have learned since the beginning of my sessions. My progress is down to the dedication and encouragement that Lindsay gave me throughout the course. I can’t thank Lindsay enough and would recommend her to anyone who wants to have fun learning Chinese.

the tools (online ppt and quizlet) are not functional. the team is not professional. there is no follow up. nothing ever works. classes are a waste of time you can do by yourself. for a company that's been going on for years its very surprising not to mention super disappointing. location is central but building is tedious. pretty much nothing positive . I gave up.
