Suggested study schedule:
General English programs commence every 10 weeks throughout the year (except for the 10 days over Christmas and New Year). It is best to start either at the beginning of a 10-week block or halfway through at the 5-week point, but students can commence on any Monday, if necessary. Full-time study involves 25 hours per week. On average, a student can expect to take 10 weeks to complete each level.

Improve your chances of achieving a higher IELTS score. IELTS preparation is included as part of our English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program and in the higher levels of General English.
Please note – IELTS Preparation does not qualify as a ‘principal course’ for Student Visa applicants.
This course is designed to improve your academic English and study skills so you can enrol in Bond University or other higher education courses in Australia and internationally.
The EAP course is a full-time program. There are three levels with each level taking one semester (14 weeks) to complete. BUELI runs three semesters per year so it is possible to complete all three levels within 12 months and transition seamlessly to degree-level studies at Bond University.
In each level, EAP students are assessed in the four macro skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking through:
- Ongoing assignments throughout the semester
- A mid-semester exam (Week 7)
- A final exam (Week 14)
- Students who successfully complete their level will receive a BUELI certificate.
Full-time study involves 25 hours per week, with five of those hours being for independent study and/or individual consultation. Intakes for each EAP level are accepted in January, May and September, in line with Bond University’s academic semesters – holiday periods of 3-5 weeks are allocated between each 14-week semester. This allows you to progress easily into the University’s degree programs when the time comes.
