Description:
BUELI’s General English is designed to improve your English skills in speaking, listening, reading, writing and grammar for every day usage

Content:
Classes are available at six levels graded from Beginner to Advanced, with each level lasting 10 weeks. Class activities include:
- Active listening
- Pair and group practice
- Vocabulary and grammar
- Role play and drama
- Excursions
- Writing workshops
- Games, music, television and movies

Assessment:
Our General English programs are self-paced, with students assessed on weekly tasks, as well as a final test again in week 10 in the four skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening, and grammar. Once a student has demonstrated the required competency, they will move up to the next level.

Suggested study schedule:
General English programs commence every 10 weeks throughout the year (except for the 10 days over Christmas and New Year). It is best to start either at the beginning of a 10-week block or halfway through at the 5-week point, but students can commence on any Monday, if necessary. Full-time study involves 25 hours per week. On average, a student can expect to take 10 weeks to complete each level.

Improve your chances of achieving a higher IELTS score. IELTS preparation is included as part of our English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program and in the higher levels of General English.

Please note – IELTS Preparation does not qualify as a ‘principal course’ for Student Visa applicants.

Description:
This course is designed to improve your academic English and study skills so you can enrol in Bond University or other higher education courses in Australia and internationally.

Content:
The EAP course is a full-time program. There are three levels with each level taking one semester (14 weeks) to complete. BUELI runs three semesters per year so it is possible to complete all three levels within 12 months and transition seamlessly to degree-level studies at Bond University.

Assessment:
In each level, EAP students are assessed in the four macro skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking through:
- Ongoing assignments throughout the semester
- A mid-semester exam (Week 7)
- A final exam (Week 14)
- Students who successfully complete their level will receive a BUELI certificate.

Study schedule:
Full-time study involves 25 hours per week, with five of those hours being for independent study and/or individual consultation. Intakes for each EAP level are accepted in January, May and September, in line with Bond University’s academic semesters – holiday periods of 3-5 weeks are allocated between each 14-week semester. This allows you to progress easily into the University’s degree programs when the time comes.

Description:
Business English is designed to teach you how to communicate more effectively in a professional environment. This course will improve your business English language skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening. You will also improve your grammatical accuracy and expand your vocabulary.

Content:
The Business English course covers language relating to teamwork, the office, communication, corporate hospitality, company structures and systems, buying and selling, customer service, travel and conference meetings, reporting results, health and safety, marketing, presentations, jobs and careers.

Assessment:
Progressive assessments are based on regular in-class tests and projects.

Study schedule:
The Business English program is a 10-week course commencing every five weeks throughout the year (except for the 10 days over Christmas and New Year) and the minimum study period is five weeks. Full-time study involves 25 hours per week.

In addition to BUELI’s purpose-built educational facilities, our Gold Coast location provides an ideal opportunity to combine English language tuition with local tourist attractions and sporting activities. We can also arrange for Bond University academics to offer sessions focused on specific industries or study areas.
