New Voice Language Academy (NVLA) is located in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia – a World UNESCO Heritage Site and one of Canada’s most beautiful places. NVLA is nationally accredited by Languages Canada and provincially designated by the Department of Labour and Advanced Education.
NVLA’s team of qualified teachers is dedicated to improving your English language proficiency for professional, academic, or general purposes. We are pleased to have educators and staff with diverse experience and commitment to fostering a successful school atmosphere. All of our ESL teachers hold a Bachelor of Education and/or are TESL certified (or equivalent). We care, and it shows in the classroom.

This course is for any students wishing to improve their English-language skills. NVLA offers this course at the entry level. Students can expect a well rounded program focusing on listening and speaking, reading and writing as well as grammar. These classes are interactive, fun and challenging. Immigrants, international students or tourists will benefit most from this course.

Once you know the basics, you may choose to focus on English for Academic Purposes. NVLA offers this option starting at the Low-Intermediate Level. This is a sequence of highly specialized courses relevant to students planning a post-secondary education at an English-speaking university or college.
This course prepares students for successful study in university-level degree programs. It covers academic research skills such as reading of academic texts, effective note taking and paraphrasing information. This course also provides significant practice with English academic writing and standard referencing techniques. Learners at this level study and practise presentation techniques useful in both academic and professional settings.

Complete our English for Academic Purposes Program, receive our Advanced Certificate of Completion. Students who complete the Advanced Certificate are exempt from any English Language Proficiency test such at the IELTS at any of NVLA’s partnering institutions.
