Community Engagement is dedicated to growing a cooperative spirit of high quality professionalism and visibility between Auburn Montgomery Outreach and the business community at large; to create University and community partnerships.
The Intensive English Program (IEP) at Auburn University at Montgomery exists to serve the international community by providing exemplary English language training, using qualified professionals in courses specifically designed to better help international students master the English language and to enable them to succeed in their academic, professional, and personal lives.
All ESL students first take a placement test to help determine their current skill level and identify the coursework they need.
IELTS is the International English Language Testing System that tests English proficiency across the globe. Conducting 1.7 million tests globally, IELTS is the world's most popular English testing system.
IELTS tests are held in over 800 centers with tests up to four times a month. IELTS respects international diversity and is fair to anyone who sits for the tests, regardless of nationality.
You can choose from two types of IELTS test: Academic or General Training, depending on where you want to study, work or migrate. Both modules are made up of four parts - Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. IELTS results are graded on the unique IELTS nine-band scale.
The goal of the TESOL Program is to equip individuals regardless of their educational background with the skills necessary to Teach English to Speakers of Other Languages in the United States or abroad. In this fully-online program, students all over the world can set their own pace and learn from the comfort of their home. The only requirement is that the student have a good command of written and spoken English.
The Fully-Online program is designed to be completed entirely via the Internet. There are no on-campus tests and no visits to campus are necessary. All classes and evaluations are completed online. We are currently able to offer two tracks for the online program: Adult Education and K-12 Education. Both tracks of this program consist of four core classes and two electives.
The fully-online program was created with the understanding that not everyone has the time to come to AUM campus twice a week and sit in a class. With this in mind, we have designed a program that will enable you to learn at your own pace. Each of the six classes, four core and two elective, take only six weeks to finish. We also want to be able to give you a choice of focus. Therefore, we offer two tracks: Adult Education and K-12.
The Adult Education track focuses on the ability to assess the language ability of your students and finding practical ways to teach communicative English along with an overview of TESOL as a whole.

The K-12 Education track looks at language assessment and the current methods and technology that can be used for young learners especially in a content based learning environment.
