By using a communicative, student-centered approach, IH San Diego provides its students with a stimulating classroom environment. General English classes focus on integrating the skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing with pronunciation, grammar and lexical components. The overall emphasis is on building confidence and improving fluency.
The elective classes provide students the opportunity to receive additional instruction in areas of particular interest to them.
Upon successful completion of their studies, students are awarded certificates.

The CELTA is an introductory course, originally designed for people with little or no previous English language teaching experience. However, it is also beneficial for experienced teachers who have never attained a recognized teaching qualification.
The CELTA certificate is a great step in obtaining a teaching position at many schools around the world. Employers regard the certificate highly as it is known to provide a strong basis from which to develop as a teacher of English.

Junior English Programs

This course is for students aged: 13-70

IH San Diego is pleased to offer a fun-filled Junior Program in Summer and Winter. The program is offered to students of all language abilities, with classes focusing on interactive, communicative exercises and games. As an extension of the classroom experience, students enjoy afternoon activities and weekend excursions to exciting local attractions.
Students of the homestay junior program stay in shared room accommodation with American host families. Students of the residential program study and stay at the San Diego State University where they have access to many facilities including a swimming pool, volleyball courts, sports fields, and a recreation room.
