Tropical North Queensland Institute of TAFE

About Tropical North Queensland Institute of TAFE
Tropical North Queensland TAFE is part of the TAFE Queensland network of government owned vocational colleges in Queensland. The institute enrols over 15,000 domestic students across 8 campuses each year, with approximately 250 international students in the English Language Centre, and certificate and diploma courses. Cairns is a major tourist destination with an international airport and 3 million visitors every year. The institute is therefore very well placed to deliver tourism, hospitality (including cookery and bakery) and horticulture courses to students. Part-time work is available for students in the retail, tourism/hospitality and horticulture industries. Tropical North Queensland TAFE is the central enrolment centre, and also manages off-shore marketing for TAFE institutes in Townsville (Barrier Reef TAFE), Rockhampton (Central Queensland TAFE), Hervey Bay (Wide Bay TAFE) and Toowoomba (Southern Queensland TAFE). Courses are available in nursing, aged care, accounting, automotive, bakery, business, cookery, hospitality, human resource management, justice, tourism, fashion, hairdressing, business studies, information technology, massage, visual arts, etc. Accommodation is available through homestay, student lodges, backpacker, share and/or unit/home rentals. Cost of living is less than in capital cities and many students use bicycles to travel to and from TAFE, and work. Regional Queensland is the perfect place to study!
