London is one of the world's most fashion conscious cities. Since the 1960s, with the super hip, centre-of-fashion Carnaby Street and the birth of the mini-skirt, the capital has always had a super creative and dynamic fashion scene.
SGI, based in Central London and just around the corner from TopShop, Oxford Street and Carnaby Street, is a great place to combine English language study, with visits to Fashion exhibitions and events. Our English + Fashion Week course (next course Monday Feb 15) is especially designed for international students who have a passion for fashion and want to improve their English.
One of the many highlights of this course is the ‘Friday Fashion Day’, where students attend a professional catwalk show, enjoy exclusive shopping with items from 150 designers and receive a limited designer Tote bag. This fun day takes place in the Saatchi Gallery in Duke of York Square, just off London’s historic King’s Road and will indulge all your fashion senses... and maybe your credit card with all those amazing clothes to buy! :)
Another great trip for our "fashion" students is the wonderful Victoria and Albert Museum, in South Kensington, where there are permanent collections of fashion through the ages. These fascinating fashion collections show off fashion trends and garments as far back as the 17th century and right up to the present day.
