EAP I includes an introduction to academic-style listening, speaking, writing, research and presentations.

EAP II has a strong academic focus. It is built around a series of research assignments and seminars which involve core skills of reading and evaluating, note-taking, summarising, referencing, speaking, listening and use of the library and the internet.

The Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CertTESOL) is a recommended qualification for teaching English in New Zealand and overseas. No prior teaching experience is necessary for this course: CertTESOL provides trainees with practical experience of language teaching with ample opportunities to plan, teach and evaluate lessons. Trainees attain a high level of practical competence and understanding of language teaching required for employment in this field.
