About Padworth College

Padworth College is a co-educational boarding school which offers international students aged 13-19 an outstanding opportunity to study in the UK. Padworth brings an informal tutorial-style atmosphere to school level education giving individual attention in small classes underpinned with exceptional pastoral care. Excellent academic results are routinely achieved and nearly all students go on to British universities. Padworth is just 45 minutes from Heathrow in a countryside setting providing a secure environment for study. Students are accepted throughout the academic year and an individual academic programme is designed for each student from a wide range of courses: 1) GCSE and IGCSE - one or two year programmes and re-sits 2) AS/A Levels - 2 year or 5 term programme in a wide range of subjects; re-sits offered 3) Full-time Art and Design A Level programme 4) University Access (Foundation) - one year course in Business, Finance or Law providing a university entrance qualification 5) International Study Centre - Full-time intensive English Language tuition for any length of time from one term to a year 6) Short Language Courses - 4 week Easter School, 7 week Summer School Padworth has excellent facilities & a wide range of activities and excursions are organised for evenings and weekends.

End of year English examination at an appropriate level – Cambridge English KET/PET and IGCSE Maths and/or Art and/or Core Science (depending on age and level)
To help students at this level to get the most out of their academic studies, an EAL teacher will accompany them into their Core Science lessons to assist the Science teacher in making sure that students are not held back by their level of English. We have found that this inter-departmental approach enables students to make faster progress.

The EAL Department delivers the IELTS preparation course as a one or two year course for all A level and Business Foundation students. Business Foundation students will follow a one year course with 4 hours of tuition per week and A level students will follow a two year course with at least 5 hours of tuition per week. The focus is on the four essential skills tested by the IELTS examiners of reading, writing, listening and speaking as well as familiarising students with the exam format, expectations and criteria.

Exams: IELTS external examination in final term (or earlier if required)
