Established in 1979, Meridian School of English in Plymouth and Meridian School
of English in Portsmouth offer a wide range of standard and intensive English
courses for adults and young learners. These include: General English course,

Students develop their English language through the practice of all the skills. They gain confidence building their vocabulary and improving their pronunciation and grammar by using a variety of media including lessons which are prepared based on the needs of the class. Classroom-based lessons provide opportunities for students to work individually, in pairs and in small groups. A certificate is awarded at the end of the course.

Students study General English in the morning for 15 hours per week and Exam Preparation in the afternoon for 8 hours per week (23 hours in total). Students can study any of the main English language exams e.g. IELTS and The Cambridge suite (FCE, CAE, CPE). Practice exams are carried out and exam techniques explored with the full support of their teacher.

Study English for a specific purpose by taking a themed course. Examples could include: English with media, project management, English for executives, English for clinical practitioners, English for the catering industry. Or study English in combination with a sport such as: rugby, football, golf, etc.
