About Manor Courses Limited

Our International Summer School has been providing high quality Residential English Language Courses since 1970. The family business was started with a vision that remains an important principle today: “Language through friendship, friendship through language”. Our Courses have always been organised by the same family, and we have proven that our trustworthy, friendly and personal approach brings success. The directors’ family manage the complete programme, and live at Hurst College during Summer School season. Staff and students return again and again for our combination of study with activities, excursions and high standards of pastoral care.
We invite young students to:
• Improve all their English language skills and develop their confidence in English communication.
• Enjoy a stimulating activity programme using our extensive range of sports and leisure facilities at Hurst College
• Make friends for life with other young international students using English.
• Discover the cultural, historical and tourist destinations of southern England.
Our dedicated academic teachers deliver interactive lessons designed to capture students’ interests and keep them motivated through a clear structured syllabus. The syllabus incorporates building grammar and vocabulary, with oral practice and book-work. Progress is monitored with weekly review tests. Additionally, weekly lessons also focus on students’ excursion and cultural experiences in UK. Classes are multilingual and have a maximum of 15 students.

Our dynamic activity leaders help develop students’ skills through a wide choice of sport, art, craft, drama, dance and music activities. Competitions, talent shows, cultural events and theme days encourage team work and personal expression and showcase students’ skills.

Our helpful welfare team create a friendly, safe and homely environment. International parents and agents have easy access to senior management because the directors live on campus with the students and team.

We provide 2 excursions per week (1 half-day plus 1 full-day) to some of south England’s most famous towns, cities and tourist attractions. Some highlights include London, Oxford and Cambridge, and cultural experiences include castle tours, river tours, seaside visits, museums and shopping trips. These excursions offer learning opportunities throughout the students’ course.
