About Applied English Center - The University of Kansas
The Applied English Center (AEC) at the University of Kansas has offered English language classes to students and scholars from all parts of the world since 1964. We welcome students at all levels of English proficiency, preparing them for study in American universities and helping them participate in American society. We are committed to preparing our students linguistically, academically and culturally for university life, providing services to enhance their adjustment and achievement, and advocating for ESL and international students.

Levels: Basic, Intermediate
There are two core courses at each level: Reading/Writing/Grammar and Listening/Speaking/Grammar. Core courses meet four days per week: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Students in the upper levels can enroll in up to two elective courses designed to enhance their understanding of the English language and/or campus and community culture. Electives meet one day per week.
