Welcome to Instituto Hispánico de Murcia, the No. 1 Spanish courses provider in Murcia County. We are the only specialists in teaching Spanish language to foreigners in Murcia, with experience for over 20 years.
Our history
Since our CEO, Felipe Espada, started this project in August 1999 and after receiving our first student a few months later, on January 8th – his dad’s birthday -, we have welcomed more than 8000 people from all over the world.
We will always remember our first student, Wendy Leavesly, from Australia, and all the efforts and hopes the entire team put into this project to make it real… and better every day.

Our growth, progress & evolution
We welcomed 68 students in the first year, more than 800 in 2019 and, despite 2020’s pandemic, we managed to keep our school open working and developing promotional and communication strategies.

This is our most popular Spanish course, a standard 4 lessons per day course of general Spanish in Murcia. In the first two lessons we study grammar topics and their use. In the second two we reinforce what we have previously learnt throughout practical exercises where vocabulary and idiomatic expressions are analyzed. In advanced classes there are also special lessons on Spanish culture, food, geography, history, ...

At Instituto Hispánico de Murcia, we offer you a specific Spanish course so you can prepare for the University Entrance Exam (Selectividad) or the Specific Competency Tests (PCE) with confidence, so don't worry if you don't speak Spanish very well. Our preparatory course for the University Entrance Exam (Selectividad) or PCE is the best ally to successfully pass the exam. With expert teachers and a tailor-made program, you will prepare with confidence and security.
We also offer individual courses to prepare for the DELE exam, with a pass rate of over 90%. With specialized teachers and a personalized curriculum, we help you achieve your Spanish certification goals with confidence and success.
You will also review past exam papers and have exam simulations to assess your progress.
Both the fees and the dates of the exams are reviewed annually by the Ministry of Education and Culture of Spain and usually take place in May, August, and November. For more detailed information, please contact us.

We offer tennis classes at Murcia Club de Tenis – founded in 1919 – complementing your intensive Spanish course. The tennis classes will allow you to experience the passion and power that characterize this sport as an important part of Spanish culture. Our teaching methods, tailored for each student, will make your learning process effective and enjoyable.
The one-week course includes 20 Spanish lessons and 10 personalized sessions with a professional tennis coach from Monday to Friday, court rental, locker room, and showers. You will also have access to the gym. The course does not include sports equipment or transportation to the tennis club. Spanish classes will take place at our school, and tennis lessons will be on outdoor courts.

Individual Spanish Course in Murcia
These classes are designed to meet the needs of any individual student or any university, college, school, company or group with a specific interest.
Students who apply for this course have precise and very special needs, which we identify through an interview on arrival and a level test.
How often should you have individual lessons?
This course is perfect for people who have jobs, are studying or have busy schedules. One of the main benefits of individual classes is their flexibility.
What do we mean by "flexibility"? You can have as many classes as you need every day or as many days per week as you want, although we don't recommend more than two hours at a time without a break because your brain switches off and learning is much slower.
However, at first glance, you might think that the number of hours of lessons is the most important thing, but it's not about quantity, it's about quality. So, if you have between two or more hours a day with your teacher, then nothing can stop you from reaching your goals.
How much do they cost?

This 95-hour course has been developed by Mr. José Luis Vega, a Spanish teacher for foreigners at the University of Salamanca.
It consists of 35 hours of theory and 60 hours of practice with real students (not royalty, but real ones!) of Spanish, including observation under the guidance and supervision of a personal teacher/tutor. You can complete the 35 theoretical hours of the course at your own pace in the comfort of your home.
The aim of this course is to present and update the methodology, theory, and practice of teaching Spanish as a foreign language.
We aim to provide you with the opportunity to explore various aspects of Spanish language pedagogy, hoping to open new horizons and stimulate interest in the different, always complex, aspects of the teaching and learning process.
