The International House World Organisation (IHWO) is a network of language schools worldwide that are committed to implementing high standards of quality and innovation in education and training. There are currently over 140 schools in more than 40 countries.

Soros International House (SIH) started in 1993 as English language teaching centre and soon became one of the largest and most highly rated language schools in Vilnius. From 1993 SIH is an affiliated member of the International House World Organisation (IHWO) . In 1998 SIH became a member of Lithuanian Association of Adult Education and Centre of Foreign Language Teachers Training, recognized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Lithuania. In 2003 the institution was approved by IHWO Affiliate Network as one of IH Teacher Training Centres, from 2005 to 2013 – as Instituto Cervantes Examination centre for Spanish language and in 2008 – as Pearson authorized tests centre LTE for English language. In 2013 SIH joined EURORESO – an International Association with a scientific and educational purpose. In 2013 SIH became the centre for English language proficiency testing of applicants for public service.
The main SIH activities are teaching languages (13 languages at the moment), language exam preparation, studies abroad, camps for young learners in Lithuania and abroad, language teaching online, teacher training, IH consulting and implementation of various international projects.
Since 2000 SIH has been actively involved in a number of international projects and has explicit experience in coordinating projects in language teaching, development of teaching methodology and tools, adult education and vocational training, intercultural learning, active citizenship, training senior learners, and migrant integration.
The projects coordinated by SIH were awarded European Labels or diplomas as the best projects of the year, were nominated for Star projects and were selected among the best adult education and language teaching projects by the European Commission, were presented during the international Conferences and Fairs and included into different Compendiums of Best Practices. LITHUANIAN LANGUAGE COURSE

If you feel isolated not being able to understand what Lithuanian people are talking about all around you, if you wish to join them in a conversation and be able to express yourself in fluent Lithuanian- this course is just for you!

This full-time course emphasizes the development of speaking,writing, pronunciation and listening skills for everyday purposes. Focus is on developing fluent and accurate communicative Lithuanian to enable students to better express themselves in a variety of everyday situations. Not only foreigners, but also people of other nationalities who are residents in Lithuania and wish to improve their skills in spoken or written Lithuanian are invited to take this course.

During this course you will take part in a variety of language learning activities which will include lots of speaking in groups, pairs, and one-on-one which will help you feel more confident in real life situations.

This course is also available as a Study Abroad course.
We would offer a combined course, 2 lessons of Lithuanian in a group (2 times a week, each lesson 2 hrs long), and individual (one-to-one) learning 3 times a week. The intensity of the course can be chosen according to individual needs of a student. If there would be a special group which would like to study intensively as a group, it could be arranged too.

Students would be able to choose either homestay or living in a flat.
The social programme would include such activities as:
Half-day excursion to the Old Town of Vilnius, which would also serve as an orientation tour.An excusion to the KGB museum, Gediminas castle in the centre of Vilnius, other museums could be offered according to personal interests of a student.
Half-day excursion to Trakai castle (there is a museum there as well) outside Vilnius.
Half-day excursion to Europos Parkas ( the museum of modern art to give an artistic significance to the geographic centre of the European continent, as determined by National Geographic Institute).
As Vilnius is famous for its active and happening cultural life, students would be offered possibilities to go to a performances/concerts/exhibitions, etc.
We have a library, self-acess centre, the Internet.
