C.I.L.S. (Certificazione di Italiano come Lingua Straniera - Cerfificate
of Italian as a Second Language) examination centre an accreditation conferred
by UNISTRASI (Siena University for Foreigners) and officialy accredited by the University for Foreigners of Siena as an Authorized Exam Prepration Center for DITALS (The Certificate for Teachers of Italian as a foreign language).
A.L.C.E. is is proud to
be a full member of IALC (International Association of Language
Centres) and ASILS (. Furthermore we are recognised by numerous
bodies throughout Europe including CSN in Sweden (student financial aid
agency) and for Bildungsurlaub in Germany.
As a city,
Bologna offers an exciting alternative destination for an authentic
immersion in Italian language and culture. It is home to the oldest
university in the western world and has been enthusiastically embracing
foreign students for almost 1000 years. Whilst avoiding mass tourism and with
an exciting cultural and social landscape, the city provides a great opportunity
to meet Italians. Bologna is well connected by international and low-cost
airports and additionally serves as the main rail junction in Italy. Whilst
being a city of art in its own right it is conveniently situated near
many other historical centres such as Florence, Venice, Milan, Verona, Mantua,
Parma, Padua, Ravenna and Ferrara
As an institute,
A.L.C.E. is a medium-sized, family run school which was founded in 1999.
Located in the prestigious Santo Stefano district and less than 500metres from
the historic centre it is serviced by some of the main bus routes. A.L.C.E. is
centred in a recently refurbished nice building with a total of 11 classrooms
(including 4 smaller studios (for individual classes) with a capacity of around
75 students. The two media centres house a total of 17 personal computers,
providing free high-speed internet connection in addition to the free wi-fi
access available. There is a wide selection of resources including up to date
books, CDs and multimedia material.
The wide range of courses
available at A.L.C.E. including intensive, business and examination courses are
offered to students from the age of 17 years, cater to all levels and are run
year-round. We take pride in our excellent teacher/student ratio with a
maximum class size of eight students and an average of three to five
students ensuring individual attention. A.L.C.E. also guarantees the number of
class hours. The academic syllabus contains weekly student assessment and
functions in such a way as to identify and efficiently deal with problems.
Furthermore there is an open door policy to address any student concerns. The
school views its social and cultural program as a natural and essential
complement to classroom tuition in accelerating language acquisition and
enhancing cultural appreciation. As such it is encouraged and regularly updated
by the school and presents a varied and motivating educational
tool.

INTENSIVE GI23
We recommend this course to students who wish to
learn the language and absorb the culture naturally,
without rushing, but with no delays. The length of the
course ranges from two weeks to a full academic year.
This course offers four hours of lessons per day, from
9.00 to 13.10, Monday to Friday, plus (at least) two
hours (one afternoon class of conversation or
phonetic) per week. Groups range from 3 to 8
students; and an excursion and activity programme is
included.
Complement to GI23 course:
ITALIAN CULTURE AND CONVERSATION COURSE
These courses explore various aspects of Italian culture, with a particular focus on the spoken language, and are designed for students who wish to learn more about the history of the language, Italian literature and Italian dialects. They act as a perfect addition to morning group classes. The student can attend conversation classes for as many weeks as desired. The start-date for the course is every week.
Important: ONLY as a complement to GI23 course.
SUPER INTENSIVE GI30
This course offers students all the facilities of the
Intensive course, The course consists of six hours of
lessons per week, from 9.00 to 13.10 in the morning
and 14.00 to 16.00 in the afternoon, Monday to Friday.
Groups range from 3 to 8 students; and an excursion
and activity programme is included.
Important: When are enrolled less than 2 students at
the same level, we guarantee, at the same price, 5 on
to one afternoon classes per week.
COMBINED 20+5
This course consists of morning classes plus one hour
of private (one-to-one) lessons in the afternoon. The
private lessons give students the opportunity to
concentrate on their own individual needs and
interests.
The course consists of 25 lessons per week, from 9.00
am to 1.00 pm in the morning and 2.00 pm to 3.00 pm
in the afternoon, Monday to Friday. Groups range from
3 to 8 students; and an excursion and activity
programme is included.
MASTER CLASS OVERS 45s
This is a course aimed at students over the age of 45. Lessons (which take place in small groups of 3 - 8 students) are designed for learning everyday Italian with a greater focus on spoken language than on grammar and written work. Teachers are aware of the specific needs of older students, of their different learning speeds, and their greater interest in the cultural aspects of Italian, such as customs, festivals, history and literature. The courses last for two weeks with 4 hours of General Italian a day and a specific programme of specially-designed activities and excursions for the over 45s.
