About Eastern Institute of Technology (EIT)
Learning English can open doors. Our English Language Centre has an enthusiastic team of teachers, spacious, well-equipped classrooms, a Language Laboratory and a student common room with internet suite. We aim to help our students “Live the Language” with practical English skills and a range of programmes.
We believe there is more to learning English than just spending time in the classroom. To encourage students to practise speaking English and to expose them to native speakers in the community, we organise activities within the curriculum to encourage learning in everyday situations. The activities may include trips to businesses and sites of cultural and historical interest. Students will bring back information and experiences to share in the classroom.

IELTS PREPARATION PROGRAMME
Students who have completed our IELTS Preparation Programme are familiar with the format and broad contents of an IELTS test, giving them the best possible opportunity to get the IELTS result they require.
IELTS preparation classes are offered to students on NZCEL level 3 or above as a part-time option class. Students will spend 8 hours a week on specific IELTS test taking skills and 12 hours a week on more general academic skills. This allows students to widen their vocabulary and improve world knowledge, which is very helpful when taking the IELTS exam.
IELTS preparation classes are designed to improve students’ test taking strategies, to familiarise students with the IELTS test format and to improve their English level prior to taking the test. Out of class study is strongly encouraged, to include practice in Tasks One and Two of the Writing module as well as Reading and Listening tests. Near their exam date, each candidate is given a practice speaking test. Subject areas covered are: reading skills, writing skills, listening skills, speaking skills, vocabulary development and test taking strategies.
This programme best suits students with an Intermediate level of English. Students will be offered the IELTS option from NZCEL 3 onwards.
Length: 8 weeks
