Founded in Siena-Tuscany in 1979, the school has continued to increase in size and reputation, becoming one of the most successful schools in Tuscany. During the years an Italian gastronomy department has been added to the Italian language school. The school - located in the Medieval centre of Siena - welcomes students from all over the world, and of all ages. We boast 20 classrooms, internet point, cafeteria, courtyards and terrace, recreation room with piano, self-study centre and library, professional kitchen and dining room for the cooking courses. Both the language teachers and the cooking chefs are highly qualified and dynamic, while our office staff are always willing to help our students out. We co-operate with important partners abroad, prestigious European and American Universities and High schools offering Italian language, culture and cooking programs and internship and work experience programs. The school is centre for the examination PLIDA - certificate of Italian recognised by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Education. We are recognised by the European Community for the Grundtvig and Socrates Comenius programs. We recently obtained UNI EN ISO 9001:2000 by TÜV ITALIA.
DA Siena operates a unique system of Continuous Enrollment in which students are able start a course on just about any Monday of the year depending on the individual's language level. There are six different language levels which are based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Students take a written and spoken placement test in order to assess the most appropriate language level. All courses are intensive and cover as many linguistic areas as possible which is ideal for those who are looking forward to learning Italian in Italy.
If you want to certify your knowledge of Italian and are currently studying Italian in Italy or already know the language, this specifically designed course will prepare you to the utmost for the PLIDA exam (Progetto Lingua Italiana Dante Alighieri, the recognized proficiency certificate in Italian language studies, according to the Università La Sapienza in Rome). Lessons are always held in the afternoon in order to allow students enrolled in morning classes to attend this course. The PLIDA preparation course has a duration of two weeks and is held in the two weeks prior to the week of the exams. In our course only students of the same preparatory level will be in the same “mini-group” class.
