About Curtin University of Technology

Curtin English Langiage Centre (CELC) is located on the beautiful campus grounds of Curtin University in sunny Perth, Western Australia. Our students share the campus with Australian and other international university students from over 100 countries. Our range of programs include General English, English for Academic Purposes (EAP), English Language Bridging (ELB), IELTS preparation, study skills workshops, teacher training (TESOL) and customised programs. Flexible entry into our programs fit with university start dates, summer breaks and allows for visa and passport delays. Our dedicated, highly trained staff are an integral part of our students' success and provide ongoing support and guidance to our students. We believe in a study life/social life balance, which is why CELC students are encouraged to participate in the CELC social program and Curtin University events. General English (GE)
The General English course develops your confidence in using English when living, studying or working in an English-speaking environment.

You should choose this course if you would like the enjoyment and stimulation of improving your English in a modern university environment.

General English is suitable for a range of English levels. The course is offered from the elementary CEFR A2/General English 2 level to the Intermediate Plus CEFR B1/ General English 5 level.

English Exam Preparation

Weekly Hours: Intensive 25+ hrs/wk

Cambridge Preparation (FCE and CAE)
The Cambridge Preparation courses will prepare you to successfully undertake the Cambridge First English (FCE) and/or Cambridge Advanced English (CAE) exams.

These intensive language programs will provide you with the language skills necessary to communicate effectively in both a professional and academic environment.

Curtin English also pays for you to sit the FCE and CAE exams when you are ready.

English for Academic Purposes (EAP)
English for Academic Purposes (EAP) develops your English language and academic study skills.

If you wish to study English at a higher level to meet entry requirements for Curtin College or prepare for university courses, you should choose this course.

EAP also prepares you for entry into the English Language Bridging program (ELB). The successful completion of the ELB program can enable direct entry to Curtin University.


English Language Bridging (ELB)
If you are from a non-English speaking background, English Language Bridging (ELB) is an accelerated academic English program that will prepare you for study at Curtin University.

ELB provides entry into most Curtin degree programs if you successfully complete the course and meet your required exit score. You should choose this course if you want to develop your academic English skills or if you have a conditional offer from Curtin requiring you to attend ELB and obtain a satisfactory English Language Assessment and Academic Language Report.
