This class aims to introduce students to and familiarize them with the
structure of the IELTS test and provide materials for practice in all
areas of the test. In addition, the course is designed to equip students
with effective (Listening/Reading/Speaking/Writing) skills and
strategies needed to undertake the exam with confidence. Students will
also be provided with regular oral/written feedback and advice from the
instructor(s).

The Academic Program is YUELI's university preparation program. It is a full-time, 7 level program for non-native speakers of English. Levels 1-3
focus on helping build a solid foundation of English proficiency in all
four language skills – reading, writing, listening and speaking. Levels 4, 5b, 5a and 6
focus on the kinds of language, critical thinking and study skills
required to be a successful student in a university or college setting
where English is the language of instruction.

Completion of Level 6 of the Academic Program is accepted by York University as meeting the English language proficiency requirements for entry to most undergraduate programs at York University.

The Summer Language Program: Experience York is an
intensive 4-week program that provides students with an opportunity to
develop their English skills and to experience life at York University,
one of Canada's largest universities.

Students will participate daily in a Language Development Class and also be able to select their own Language Option Class.
Language Option Classes include Academic Lectures, Speaking and
Listening, and IELTS/TOEFL Preparation. There will be lots of speaking
practice, so students should be prepared to get involved.
Extra-curricular activities, designed to provide students with an
opportunity to experience the cultural attractions offered in Toronto
and the local area, are an integral part of the program. As this is an
intensive course, students are obliged to use English in and out of the
classroom. For maximum exposure to language learning opportunities, we
recommend that students live in residence.
