Scuola Galatea – Institute of Italian language and culture was born out of the love for experiencing new cultures, thirst for gaining new knowledge and passion for teaching of three exceptional individuals.
After years of travelling and working all over Italy and abroad Elena Lussi, Manuela Mamazza and Guiseppe Bonura embarked on a new adventure and opened doors to Scuola Galatea – Centro di lingua e cultura italiana in Acicastello, Catania.
United in the philosophy that the most rewarding learning experience is the one that satisfies both mind and soul, they set to put the foundations of Scuola Galatea.
Here they created a personalised offer for learners who want to have more than a holiday, more than a study course, more than a cultural trip but a combination of all three and enable them to immerse in the Sicilian way of life.
Thus, they opened a lively centre where learners will feel welcomed and will enjoy and appreciate the benefits of professional approach, friendly environment and breathtaking sea view in Acicastello.

Standard course
The standard course is focused on gaining general Italian language knowledge while having fun getting to know Sicily. Total of 20 study hours a week.
Standard course plus
This is an intensive Italian language course which will enable you gain language skills quicker. In the mornings of Monday to Friday (excl. public holidays) you will attend a group class for 4 hours followed by 1 hour of 1-2-1 lesson, totalling 25 study hours a week.
Individual lessons
Individual Italian language lessons for all skills and levels. Following a level entry test, the teacher will define a learning path based on the specifics needs of the student. Both the intensity and duration of lessons will be agreed between the teacher and the student.

Italian Online standard course
The course is held entirely online with lessons held via Skype and taught by native Italian teachers. Time and duration of this course depend on the individual preferences and needs of the student. Learning materials are provided following enrolment. This course is ideal for individuals who want to learn Italian and benefit from the flexibility of studying in their own time and on their own pace.
Italian Online plus course
The perfect option to allow you to gain linguistic skills in advance of your holiday and then deepen them while you are here. This course consists of 2 parts and it is a combination of Italian language course held online (on the basis of the Italian Online standard course – part I) followed by a period of study in Scuola Galatea (following the pattern of the Italian Standard course- part II).
Duration, lessons timetable and total hours of part I depend on the individual preferences and needs.

Professional Italian courses
Do you need to improve your vocabulary in a particular aspect of the language? This course deals with a subject of your choosing that requires covering specific topics linked to a particular profession Business, Finance, Headlthcare etc. Participants need to have at least an intermediate level of knowledge of Italian. Duration and intensity of the course depend on the individual needs of the learner. However, it is recommended a course with a minimum duration of 2 weeks consisting of both group and individual lessons.

Italian plus food and wine
Wine and cookery are among the most attractive activities while in Sicily. The Sicilian cuisine is rich in flavours and soaked in history. The region has its own table and dessert wines and the wineries in the areas of Mount Etna are among the most sought after. This course gives you the opportunity to taste the magical creations of Sicily. Cooking classes and wine tasting visits are organised as part of the course every week.
Italian course on the “Riviera dei Ciclopi”
Lessons take place trough the natural, mythological and literary Acicastello’s and Acitrezza’s beauties. Thanks to an artistic and literally path in the city, students will take part in a fantastic ‘’trip’’ that will tell about story and literature of this part of Sicily.
