New York Language Center offers unparalleled English as a second language instruction to students of all levels, including TOEFL preparation and specialized English courses. Established in 1985, NYLC has quickly become one of the largest and most respected English language schools in the New York City area. Many of our students continue their education at universities here and abroad or return to their workplace with vastly improved English language skills. Each year, we help thousands of students from over 100 countries improve their English skills. We have branches in Midtown, Manhattan, the Upper West Side of Manhattan, Queens and the Bronx.

Students may study for as little as one week or for as long as one year at our school. We offer Intensive ESL programs of 20 per week, and we offer a Semi-Intensive programs of 16 hours per week.

New York Language Center offers a comprehensive integrated skills language program paired with specialized electives in Business Writing, Academic Writing, Conversation, among others. We offer free internet access, student activities, housing placement assistance, and assistance with university admissions.

New York Language Center is authorized under U.S. federal law to enroll non-immigrant (F1) students, and is certified by the New York State Education Department. <h3>AMERICAN ENGLISH INTENSIVE PROGRAM (INTENSIVE LANGUAGE PROGRAM)</h3>Integrated

Meetings: 20 lessons per weekDescription: Based upon the student’s current level,
students will have a core integrated skills course coupled with a series of
complementary courses that include pronunciation, grammar practice, idioms,
writing, phrasal verbs, American culture, business communications and reading.
Students at each level will achieve an increase in fluency at the completion of
their course. The objectives of the program are based upon a “Can” outcome. For example, at the completion of the second
week, the student can ask for directions to the nearest supermarket. Business
English, Test Preparation and Academic English courses can also be taken in the
Intensive Program. Persons on a student visa are eligible to attend this
program. <h3>COMPREHENSIVE
ESL/EFL PROGRAM (PREMIUM INTENSIVE LANGUAGE PROGRAM)</h3>Integrated Skills – Levels 1-10
(Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced)Course Length: 5 weeks per levelCourse Meetings: 25 lessons per
weekDescription–This program is
comparable to the American English Intensive Program with an additional
elective subject. Persons on a student visa are eligible to attend this

Skills – Levels 1-10 (Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced)Course Length–5

Based upon the results of their placement test, students will progress through
a series of levels. This is an integrated skills program that combines reading,
writing, listening and speaking using a communicative approach. Students at
each level will achieve an increase in fluency at the completion of their
course. This program is an excellent option for visitors as well as those who
live in New York. <h3>ESL/EFL Part Time Program</h3>A Part Time Program of Integrated Skills or
Beginner–Low intermediate levels is available upon request. Course Length–5
weeks per levelCourse
Meetings: 10 lessons per week <h3>The Academic Track Program</h3>Our Academic
Track Program is taught by highly skilled instructors and provides you with the
tools necessary to acquire the skills specific to an academic
environment. Depending upon the classes you choose, you will
learn how to think critically, write reports and essays and discuss complex
topics. Our Academic Track Program also includes TOEFL ibt, and TOEIC Test
Preparation. TOEFL is the Test of
English as a Foreign Language and TOEIC is the Test of English for
International Communication. Entry
Requirements: complete at least Level 10 or qualify at initial placement. Students who have not met the entry
requirements, but want to enroll in TOEFL Preparation courses must take the
TOEFL Diagnostic Exam. Students who score a 75 percent or above on the written exam and
receive a speaking rubric score of at least 4/5 can have the option of taking a
TOEFL course. <h3>PRIVATE LESSONS</h3>

For students
with limited time or a specific need, private lessons can be arranged to
complement a student’s schedule, or these lessons may be taken on their own. An
assessment to determine your English level will be given prior to the start of
any private lessons.

<h3>Delta, Barron’s TOEFL IBT & ETS (Level Ten or Equivalent) </h3>These
TOEFL preparation courses are designed to provide further instruction and
practice for taking the TOEFL IBT exam. Students will receive instruction,
practice and advice on strategies in order to successfully complete the exam.
Weekly oral and written assessments are administered in order to gauge
student’s progress and comprehension of course content. To sign up to take the

This
is a preparatory course for the Test of English for International Communication
(TOEIC) which will help students improve their overall TOEIC-taking skills and
TOEIC score. Concurrently, students’ English language skills in listening,
reading, writing and grammar will also improve. The course is comprised of four
sections: listening comprehension, reading, speaking and writing which reflect
the four sections of the actual TOEIC test. Weekly oral and written assessments
will gauge student’s progress and comprehension of course content.

English Program teaches the language skills necessary to do better in the
workplace. Students will engage in meetings, negotiations, analysis of business
problems and brainstorming of solutions, all in English. In addition students
are encouraged to submit articles to our Business English Blog which allows
them to write about their own area of expertise.

In my opinion NYLC is one of the best English schools in NYC.
When I arrive to NY I did not know any English, now I can have fluent conversations. They gave me all tools to learn faster and feel more confident.
If I have to start again, I would choose NYLC

Guys!

I bet right now , you are thinking this reviews are real or not!! I am not going to write fancy words!!
Just listen to me before register a school in NY.

I have checked so many times school options when I was in my country.
I have been studying here for 6 months and I can tell you NYLC is the best language school in NY, because(I checked other schools too , don't worry):
- Teachers quality
- Teaching methods
- Every week has Activities!(After school is very important)
- Polite friends(they are not show off like other language schools!)
- Student Satisfaction rate
- Accreditations
- Location
- Good balance between Quality and Price!

Before register some school in NY , you should go NYLC and just check the school, talk to staff! They will care about you, they are not thinking they are just school(thinks just money).

My learning experience....

I had a really good learning experience here, i improve my english and also my vocabulary, the only thing is that i miss different kind of class that i know it used to be here, like creative writing or some labs more entertained.But the classes are really good and the teachers are awesome.

This school is the great place. There are many good people and all of this people can help you. I had big experience in NYLC and met many wonderful friends. I had arrived in NY alone and so i want to say thanks to all my friends who was met by me. There are great teachers in this school because they teach you very interesting. And you aren't afraid that you don't know or forgot something on the lesson. Thanks Barbara Dick and all who work in this center for all help. It was a great experience for me. This is a perfect school, great people. Everbody is helpful. Locaiton is good, you can go to everywhere after school. Also you can visit to NY with your classmates and teachers. Teachers are real American people, so you can learn everything from them.
