To this end, all programs at The Language Company are grounded in pedagogically sound principles of second language acquisition and the development of academic literacy in English as a second language. These principles are infused into all classes across all levels and all language domains of listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
TLC selects instructors who are both knowledgeable and enthusiastic with regards to not only the formal instruction delivered in the classroom but also in less formal settings such as discussion groups and off campus trips. The professionalism and quest for continuously improving the quality of TLC instruction at all centers is supported by opportunities for Professional Development at both the center and corporate level.
Programs at each TLC center support our larger Mission Statement in addressing the needs of all students and support the broader curriculum parameters of The Language Company as a whole while maintaining the individual requirements of each host university or cooperative institution. The Language Company also values accreditation of all of our centers and the maintenance of that accreditation with ACCET

TLC’s General English integrates the development of listening and speaking skills, structural accuracy, and everyday communication. If your goal is to be able to successfully communicate English in everyday situations, TLC’s General English course is for you!

TLC’s Business English is designed for students who wish to improve their general English skills as well as their ability to use the English language in the Business and Marketing fields. This program will explore business cultural practices and help to improve the student’s communication skills in specific areas of business. For students who place in TLC levels 1-5, the program consists of Intensive listening, speaking, grammar, reading, and writing courses. Upon entering TLC Level 6, students complete courses in listening, speaking and grammar as well as four, field-specific courses addressing various topics related to the language of business. These will include such topics as Business and Marketing, Leadership and Teamwork, Finance and Accounting, and Correspondence, Reports, and Presentations.

These private, customized programs are designed for people who need specific English skills for business, but who have limited time to study. Participants can return to their jobs quickly after having mastered the necessary English skills. Programs can be designed to address the English needs in particular fields such as Petroleum English, English for the Telecommunications Industry, or English for Technology Business.
