The American Language and Culture Program (ALCP) at CSUMB offers opportunities for students to learn English from a knowledgeable, friendly, and worldly faculty made up of English as a Second Language (ESL) experts in the beautiful Monterey Bay area.
Which program is right for you?
Choose short-term programs if you want to experience American culture and improve your English for 4-6 weeks.
Stay longer and benefit from our semester and year-long terms designed to prepare students for an American university education and improve English faster.
If you are ready to get a bachelor's degree at CSUMB, but your TOEFL/IELTS score is too low, choose our Conditional Admission program, and you will receive the English instruction necessary to achieve academic proficiency.

Cours de Anglais général

Nombre d'heures hebdomadaires: Général (15-25 h/semaine)
Short-term programs are offered year-round and are 3-4 weeks each. They provide an opportunity to improve English communication skills while experiencing the CSUMB campus culture and the beautiful scenery of the Monterey Bay area.
Students receive up to 18 hours of English instruction per week plus field trips and activities. Housing may be in the university residence halls or homestays and is generally double occupancy.
All ALCP students will take an English Placement test during the mandatory orientation at the beginning of the term. Students will automatically be enrolled in the appropriate level courses based on test scores. No action is required prior to arrival at CSUMB.

TOEFL Preparation Summer Program
This 4-week summer program prepares English as a Second Language (ESL) students for the TOEFL examination with specifically deigned curriculum to address English language for the TOEFL and test-taking skills.
