The University of Liverpool English Language Centre is the place to come if you want to study General or Academic English on campus at a top British university. You will be a fully registered student of the University with access to all our top class facilities and services, in addition to enjoying the teaching of highly qualified and experienced teachers in your English classes.
Start your study on any Monday in term time, for a minimum of 2 weeks and enjoy 21 hours of high quality tuition, an included social programme and access to a world famous university campus.
The English Language Centre is located a few minutes' walk from the centre of Liverpool, a thriving international city with a reputation for friendliness and affordability.

Activate English is a general English improvement course which gives you the opportunity in the afternoons either to take IELTS preparation classes or to join additional skills improvement classes. If you choose this course, don’t expect to be in the classroom working your way through a text book every day. We know you may have spent many years doing just that. This is why some of your time will be spent outside of classroom on study visits and completing group projects. Join Activate English if you want to learn to use the English you already know as well as learning more.

The Activate English course combines 15 hours of general English improvement with 6 hours per week of IELTS preparation. You can also take this course on a part time basis and study only in the afternoons.

The Pre-sessional English course is designed to give you all the knowledge and skills you will need to cope with the linguistic demands of studying at a top British university. You can choose from either the Management pathway or the general EAP pathway and also from a number of course lengths between 40 and 6 weeks, dependent upon your level of English when you start.
With only a couple of exceptions, students who are successful in the internal assessments on this course can proceed directly to their University of Liverpool academic course without having to take the IELTS test again, meaning that they can concentrate on learning the English needed for their academic studies from day one.

he English Language Centre is well placed to offer bespoke training for groups of English teachers. Whether your teachers are working at primary level or teaching English for Academic purposes to postgraduate students or English for specific Purposes to professionals our staff have the expertise and experience to deliver the training required.
Many of our staff have teacher training experience, having worked both on CELTA courses and Masters programmes.

It was such a great course that helped us improve ourselves. I learned many things that I didn't know before and noticed my mistakes. Teachers and everyone who works in there were so helpful and kind. Facilities of university were great, especially the library is amazing. Even though activities could be better, I had fun and met with other students. I'm happy to attend this course.
