À propos Active Language
Active Language is a language school located in Cadiz, Andalusia, Spain. Our school runs TEFL teacher training courses after which the graduates can teach English anywhere in the world. The Trinity College London Certificate TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) course has been running for the last 10 years and 200 trainees have successfully completed the course. Active Language is an accredited Trinity College London provider. This means that every Trinity CertTESOL course is moderated on site by Trinity College London. The Trinity CertTESOL course is one of the two internationally recognised qualifications in TEFL. It is a postgraduate certificate of education focused on teaching English as a foreign language. Full-time and intensive courses take place over 5 weeks during the summer months.
Despite the current economic situation, Spanish people are moving forward by investing in their own education, especially learning English. Spanish universities require students to reach a B1 foreign language level before completing a degree. This is generating a higher demand for English teachers in Spain. So, we offer unrivalled employment connections throughout Spain and especially in Andalusia.

Don't waste time applying for advertised ESL teacher roles. Mr Pearlman doesn't even bother to acknowledge them.

I did the five-week TESOL summer course because I had previously taken the four-week equivalent FELE in Spanish and knew how intensive the course was going to be, and I was right!
When comparing the two courses I must say I find it is a good idea to offer a longer course at a slightly slower pace - the Fridays really gave time for reflection and catching up. Then at least Saturday could be dedicated to the very enjoyable task of exploring Cádiz and its surroundings, I must say that the beaches were absolutely exceptional.
Exceptional – an ephitet also valid for the TESOL course. I already had a thorough teacher training from my home country plus some years of experience, but I can honestly say that these five weeks were superior to all my university training! The main reason for this was the hands-on approach of the whole course, no time wasted on obscure learning theories, instead a constant focus on WHAT to do in the classroom and HOW to do it. Taking this course was like jumping into a giant tool box, loaded with tried and trusted methods of teaching. The tutors quickly got to know us as individuals and provided exactly the amount of support according to our strengths and weaknesses, always recommending the best tool for different purposes. They used a standardised way of giving feedback, which made it very clear and to the point, but still leaving room for personal reflections. If an exercise in the classroom didn’t turn out so well, the tutors were always prepared to listen to your underlaying good intention with the task, and mostly exonerated the student from guilt!
The only negative feature I could find during five weeks at Active Language was of technical nature. Never knowing whether internet would work or not made many of our lessons unecessarily exciting! On the other hand, that made the course even more realistic – after all, that’s what we teacher face every day and it’s also one of the charms with teaching: never knowing exactly what will happen, no matter how well-planned a lesson might be.
I would recommend this course to everybody who is interested in taking up a teaching career but also for those teachers who want more tools for their pedagogical tool box.

I highly recommend the Trinity Certificate in TESOL course available at Active Language. Having made a career change and having no prior teaching experience I was extremely nervous about selecting the correct course and school in order to maximise my knowledge, experience and future employability. Having now completed the course I can confidently say I absolutely made the right decision. The tutors were highly knowledgable, supportive and friendly. The school was well equipped and well located and Cadiz is simply beautiful. Overall the experience was completely positive, the course is very intensive but manageable. I have come through it feeling very confident and well equipped to take on a new teaching position. Evidently, I now have the job I wanted in my chosen country and city. Thank you everyone at Active Language.

The Trinity Certificate in TESOL Course at Active Language was a nourishing experience that I recommend to those who would like to take their language awareness and teaching skills to another, higher level in order to progress in their TEFL career and, along the way, become qualified English teachers. Throughout the course, the support from the Active Language team was consistent both on a professional and on a personal level. Due to this, the intense training weeks were a truly rewarding and learning experience. The training centre, located in Cadiz city, combines the pace of an authentic Spanish city on the beach with friendly locals that are eager to learn English. The part I enjoyed the most, the Teaching Practice, helped me to use little but meaningful tools, resources and techniques to put myself in the student’s shoes and to teach the students, not the lesson plan. Thanks to the Active Language team for a wonderful time!
