Established in the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1978, the Tutorium in Intensive English offers superior instruction in English as a Second Language.
We serve English language students with our Intensive English Program. We also serve Chicagoland professionals having more advanced English skills with our English for International Professionals Series and with custom courses.

We encourage our students to work closely together, to learn from each other, and to develop cultural awareness. In our classes, students participate actively, and they develop all language skills through a variety of materials and projects.
We offer a challenging curriculum to our students. We also challenge our students with regular homework. Our students often watch television, read the newspaper, or interview a neighbor as part of this homework.

This course is designed to prepare students for the challenges of TOEFL iBT. The TOEFL iBT evaluates the four core language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Every problem tests as many as three language skills at once. This course helps students gain experience and confidence with the iBT TOEFL leading to better test results.

Join our special summer language and culture program for a fun and exciting ESL learning experience in the beautiful city of Chicago!
Chicago, Communication, and Culture is a 3-week English language program designed for tourists and visitors to Chicago who want to explore the city while they improve their English. Students meet on the UIC campus for an hour of classroom language instruction, then leave the campus for instructor-guided language practice in the city.
