The North West Academy is a language school based in the ancient and historical city of Derry and is accredited by British Council (with 6 points of excellence for: Strategic Management, Staff Management, Leisure Opportunities, Premises, Academic Management, Academic Staff Profile ) and ISO 9001-2015. We are an exam centre for IELTS, CAMBRIDGE and TRINITY. The school also provides CertTESOL training, CLIL teacher training and ERASMUS and Mobiity programmes.
The North West Academy has over 20 years experience in providing quality language, professional development and cultural programmes to groups and individuals of all ages. Learning a new language opens a door to a new world and we are very proud to be part of that journey. The world has changed a lot over the last twenty years and we have changed with it. The needs of learners have changed and our teaching methods and programmes have had to adapt to meet the challenges.
Derry is a perfect location for learning English. It is ideally located and very safe and friendly. Situated close to the border between the Republic of Ireland and N.Ireland, Derry is the only completely walled city in Ireland. It is a very musical and creative city which is famous for its “Legenderry” welcome. We are also close to the Causeway Coast where “Game of Thrones” is filmed.
We recently opened a branch in Donegal, in the Republic of Ireland.

Nombre d'heures hebdomadaires: Relax (10-15 h/semaine)
The course covers all areas of general English concentrating on improving students’ skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking. The lessons allow students to revise and practise the language they may already know while developing vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation and social and idiomatic English. This course is the perfect way for students to practise their English in a supportive and encouraging environment.

The North West Academy of English offers preparation courses for the IELTS, Cambridge and TOEIC exams.
Our IELTS courses are designed to help students improve their English while developing the skills and techniques needed to obtain a high score in the IELTS exam. We provide our students with all the support, practice, information and encouragement required when preparing for the exam. The courses allow students to improve their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills and to develop their vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation. Exam techniques and practice are also covered to help students achieve the best possible mark.
Our Cambridge and TOEIC exam preparation courses are designed to help students improve their English while developing the skills and techniques needed to pass exams. The course combines general English with specialised exam preparation. We provide our students with all the support, practice, information and encouragement required when preparing for exams. The courses allow students to improve their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills and to develop their vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation. Exam techniques and mock exams are also covered to help students achieve the best possible marks.

The North West Academy of English offers 4 different options for business english courses, those are:
Business Option A -General English + Business English Combination Course
20 x 45 minute General English lessons + 6 x 60 minute Business English lessons per week.
This combination course covers various areas of general and business English concentrating on improving students\' skills in reading, writing, listening and speaking. The general English lessons allow students to revise and develop their English language skills. The business element prepares students for completing variety of everyday business functions using English.
Business Option B -Intensive Business English.
20 x 60 minute Business English lessons per week.
An intensive and infonnative course that focuses entirely on using English in a variety of business situations. This is an excellent course that would be of great benefit to people at all levels in business. The course gives students the opportunity to prepare and practise for authentic business situations in a supportive and welcoming learning environment.
Business Option C -Business English + Professional Visits.
20 x 45 minute Business English lessons per week + visits to UK and Irish companies of specific interest to the student.
This course allows students to develop their business English skills whilst gaining a valuable insight into the UK and Irish business sector. The language element prepares students for a variety of business situations and provides plenty of realistic practice. Professional visits give students the opportunity to visit local companies and learn firsthand about businesses in the UK. and Ireland. Visits can be arranged in many sectors including: business; IT; human resources; administration; engineering; tourism; and marketing.
Business Option D -Intensive Business English + Personal One-to-One English.
20 x 45 minute Business English lessons per week + Personal One-to-One English.
A combination course of business English and personal one-to-one English is an ideal choice for anyone who needs to improve their language skills rapidly. The business English element prepares students for a variety of business situations and provides plenty of realistic practice. Combining the course with personal one-to-one tuition allows consolidation of work and ensures that any specific requirements are catered for.

We provide short duration English courses designed to meet the language needs of specific groups of students. We are very happy to develop tailored English language programmes incorporating any topics or areas of language that you would like to focus on. The tailor made option is a fantastic way for a group to study English that is of particular interest and importance to them.
