ECS Scotland is an independent, British Council accredited English language training centre founded in Edinburgh in 1995.
We offer small group English language tuition with a maximum of 5 students per group. Our General English courses focus on speaking and listening communication skills and we offer a selection of Combination Courses to focus on specific English topics such as English for Tourism, Business, Medicine, Law, Environment.
Our aim has always been to provide a relaxed and positive learning environment for adults of all ages and nationalities in which to practise and improve their English language skills. As a small, family-run school, the atmosphere is friendly and students are genuinely made to feel welcome.

Cours de Anglais général

- General English courses provide students with the opportunity to practise communication skills in a small group of up to 5 students. Speaking and listening skills are a priority with grammar, reading and writing covered as necessary for the group.
- Combination Courses allow students to combine working in a small General English group with one-to-one lessons focussing on other specific language needs and topics which can include English for Business & Work, Medicine, Law, Finance, Environmental Science, Tourism, Marketing & Sales, Aviation, Military, Oil & Gas or help with presentation preparation, exams, report writing, or even more grammar.
- Individual Tuition (one-to-one) enables students to work at their own pace, focussing on exact wants and needs.
- Weekend English Refresher courses are for visitors to Edinburgh who plan to spend a long weekend in our beautiful city and want to refresh spoken English.

Academic English courses are held every summer for students who would like to improve their English language skills for academic purposes before starting their studies at an English speaking university. This course is also suitable for students studing for the Academic IELTS exam.
The course in an excellent opportunity to develop English skills in an academic context before starting a pre-sessional course at university.

An intensive business English course which includes 50 hours online self-study and 60 hours (2 weeks) of in-house training in Edinburgh. There is the option of sitting the BULATS business English exam and gaining an international certificate of English.

Improve your spoken general English fluency in a small group in the mornings and specific medical English in the afternoons. Suitable for doctors, nurses, surgeons, dentists, pharmacists, students of medicine, and the general medical profession.
Improve your spoken general English fluency in a small group in the mornings and specific financial English in the afternoons. Suitable for auditors, bank and finance sector employees, finance and accountancy students. ICFE (International Certificate in Financial English) exam preparation available.
