I was studying Chinese for three years in my country, then I didn’t have lessons for a long time, so that I had to revise a lot, and the best way to do it is, of course, to go to China.
Mandarin House is probably the best known and high-qualified school of the Chinese language, so I decided to study there. As it is my first time in China, I chose to discover it starting with Beijing. At school I took a 2-week conversational course and the only thing I regret about is that I could only take two weeks. I wish I could stay longer!
The best advantage of the school is that students study in small groups which is highly important for such a difficult language as Chinese. The classrooms are also for small groups so that I can be sure that even during the high season the school provides an individual support to students.
The school developed its own textbooks. The new words which students have to learn are topical, there are a lot of chengyu (idioms), which I learned and heard on TV the very next day.
Our teacher was very active during the lessons, she made the classes interactive. Everyday she asked us how we had spent the previous day, gave some pieces of advice where to go, where to find this or that thing. We shared our experience in Beijing, made friends with each other.
In such a short period of time you still need to study hard, there is a lot of material to learn, so I believe that if a person needs to achieve high results within limited time (for work or for entering university), Mandarin House is the right place to prepare!
