BABEL International Language Institute Cartagena offers you a perfect location in the heart of the old town – surrounded by the colonial city wall, just next to the oldest neighborhood of Getsemaní. The school is located between the beautiful and bustling Square of the Trinity (Plaza de la Trinidad) and the vibrating street “Media Luna”.

Around the school one can experience the very core of local life, in particular of the “Getsemanicenses” (residents of Gestsemaní). The square of the Trinity is the star each day, being the meeting point for locals and visitors alike, where the social and cultural life is celebrated. Together with the narrow streets of the neighborhood, its inhabitants and much more, this makes Getsemaní such a unique place in the world – and always worth a visit.

The school provides the students with an amply social area with access to free wifi, computers, a library, refreshments and coffee. On the top floor BABEL has the two terraces “San Felipe” and “Espritu Santo” with outstanding views of several of the landmarks of the city: the colonial wall, the fortress San Felipe (Castillo de San Felipe), the Hill of the Monastery (Cerro de la Popa) and the colorful rooftops and steeples of the old town.

In the school you can find plenty of information about cultural activities, sightseeing and adventure trips. Free advice on the different activities in the city and around is provided.

You are also offered to take your Spanish classes directly at the Islands, where a new branch of our school has been launched. There you will be able to combine you language course with submarine adventures and enjoy our daily fresh choice of sea food – just having been caught for you!

Spanish Intensive:

The Spanish intensive course consists of 20h group classes per week. There is a maximum of 10 students per class, the timetable is available at the bottom of this page.

Spanish Super-Intensive:

If you want to gain a maximum of learning progress out of you time in Cartagena, BABEL offers you the opportunity to combine the group classes with additional private classes – either 5h or 10h per week according to your choice.

Spanish and Salsa:

If you want to get further immersed into the culture of Cartagena absorb more of Caribbean vibes, it’s indispensable to get encountered with its music. Our offer of combined Spanish classes with Salsa lessons gives you the chance to complement your language course with Salsa steps taught to you by the renown Latin dance school Crazy Salsa Cartagena.

Private lessons:

Private classes with BABEL permit you to individually design your Spanish classes. Being face to face with a teacher exclusively for you ensures optimized efficiency of your leaning efforts and the opportunity to focus on selected topics according to your wishes. Private classes can be scheduled any time at your convenience.

Spice up your language vacations with some adventure and combine it with some of the additional activities provided by BABEL.
