Review on an 18 week Standard Group Course

I am coming to the end of my 4 months at Liden & Denz St. Petersburg and have adored every second of the experience. I was lucky enough to attend the Language Centre with some students from my university in England which helped me settle in very quickly, but I think that even if I had attended the language course on my own I would have immediately felt a part of a very warm and welcoming community. There are a lot of different excursions organised for students, including sights that I would not have visited were it not for the enthusiasm of the Language Centre.

I have learnt Russian for 6 years so have been taught the language from a variety of points of view, but I can honestly say that learning Russian has never seemed so simple as in my time at Liden & Denz. Because you are not working towards an exam or a concrete goal, you can learn the language at your own pace and ask any question whenever you want. The teachers have been very accommodating and continue to be so, as is everyone else at the Language Centre. They have dealt with every query I have had over the last 18 weeks, be it trying to find fruit pastilles in St. Petersburg to recommending a Banya (when in Russia!), they have always given me and my friends helpful, unbiased advice.

I am spending the last 8 weeks of my time at Liden & Denz undertaking an internship in the marketing department, spending my afternoons reviewing company marketing approach and suggesting potential changes to their strategy. It is an absolutely fantastic and increasingly unique opportunity to work in Russia as it is extremely complicated for foreign students to obtain working visas. It has resulted in a very rounded 18 weeks in St. Petersburg, and I owe it all to Liden & Denz. Sadly I am leaving in two weeks time, but the whole experience could not have been more professionally dealt with by the Liden & Denz St. Petersburg.

Per chi vuole davvero imparare il russo!

Liden & Denz si avvale di insegnanti molto qualificati e motivati, che danno il massimo affinché tu possa apprendere al meglio la lingua russa. Il corpo docente è davvero la punta di diamante di questa scuola e avendo studiato qui per due mesi sento di avere appreso molto. Il russo è una lingua molto difficile ma Liden & Denz ti aiuta davvero a digerirla piano piano. La posizione centrale della scuola è ottima, facile da raggiungere e vicino a tutte le principali attrazioni turistiche. Il personale è molto simpatico e disponibile ad aiutarti per qualsiasi esigenza tu possa avere. L’ambiente a scuola è ottimo, informale ma anche molto professionale. E’ facile legare con i propri compagni di scuola grazie alle diverse attività che vengono organizzate (escursioni, visite guidate, ecc.). Non si può non menzionare il famoso vodka party del venerdì sera che da sempre gode di grande approvazione presso gli studenti. Per concludere, non posso che consigliare vivamente questa scuola a chiunque voglia apprendere il russo!

Fantastischer Aufenthalt in super Schule.!

Ich hab diesen Sommer während sechs Wochen bei Liden&Denz in Sankt Petersburg Russisch gelernt. Als ich angekommen bin kannte ich noch nicht einmal das kyrillische Alphabet, doch schon innerhalb kürzester Zeit konnte ich einfache Unterhaltungen führen. Ich war sehr erstaunt was für Fortschritte ich hier gemacht habe.
Die Lehrer sind alle sehr kompetent, herzlich und es gelingt ihnen definitiv die Freude am Russischen zu übermitteln. In den Kursen wird der Fokus mehr auf das Sprechen als auf das Schreiben gelegt, was mir persönlich sehr zuspricht.
Auch sonst gibt es an der Schule nichts zu bemängeln, die freundlichen Frontdesk Managerinnen stehen einem bei jedem Problem zur Seite, egal ob es sich um den Kauf von Theaterkarten, die Visaregistration oder die Organisation des Flughafentransfers handelt. Auch das Kulturprogramm das am Nachmittag angeboten wird ist sehr lobenswert. Die Exkursionen werden von Lehrern der Schule durchgeführt und sind die perfekte Gelegenheit seine Mitschüler und Lehrer besser kennen zu lernen.
Es war eine wunderbare Erfahrung und ich hoffe bald wieder hierhin zurück zu kommen!

Great experiance!

I had an overall great experiance at Liden & Denz.
Location: The school is located in the city center, very close to the nevsky prospekt, which is the main street of the city. the school can be easily reached by metro.
Teachers: Accepting the fact that Russian is a hard language to learn, they explain everything as often as you need it. Great relationship between students and teachers.
Teaching Methods: I started at B1 level, there we had the lessons split in two parts, one grammer and one speaking part. There was a different teacher for each of that parts.
Staff: Very friendly and they try to help where every they can.
Facilities: Comfortable class rooms, iPads and wifi available. Also a small cafeteria is available, where hot and cold beverages can be bought as well as food and snacks.

Everything I was looking for in a language school

When I was looking for a language course in Russia for my year abroad from university, I was looking for a school that offered varied and interesting classes of course, but also an active and welcoming environment. Liden & Denz more than delivered.
The day was well structured with two classes of 100 minutes: one for grammar and one for conversation specifically, though the classes tended to be more blended so it felt like a very natural way of learning - if a conversation arose about a topic in grammar, we were always encouraged to continue the conversation and actually practise speaking. Likewise, in the conversation class we were constantly picked up on our grammar and did various spoken exercises to practice grammar points. I found this way of learning really natural and enjoyable and have definitely improved much more than I expected to in just five months in Russia!
Classes finished at 1.40pm everyday and while we were free to go home, Liden & Denz offered a very rich and varied cultural programme, with something happening most days of the week, so I almost always went along to these events. They helped to enrich my experience here and I learnt a lot about the culture and saw a different side to St Petersburg than I'd seen before. Some of the excursions were led by the teachers from the school, so we quickly built good working relationships with the teachers and made friends with the reception staff and of course, the other students!
The facilities were great, with big classrooms, learning equipment, iPads, Wi-Fi and a cafeteria.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Liden & Denz in St Petersburg and won't hesitate to come back for more!

Super école de langue à Petersbourg, not to miss !

C'est la troisième fois que je viens étudier le russe à Liden&Denz SPB; j'ai effectué mon premier séjour en Russie l'hiver dernier chez L&D sous les conseils de la faculté de russe de Genève, au sein de laquelle j'étudie depuis trois ans. J'y suis retourné cet été pendant les fameuses nuits blanches de Saint-Petersbourg (mois de juin) et me revoici une troisième fois dans la ville de Pierre le Grand.
Le résumé ci-dessus parle de lui-même quant à mon opinion sur cette école. Tous les professeurs que j'ai eu m'ont permis d'améliorer drastiquement mon niveau de russe, en particulier à l'oral, et la diversité de leur méthode d'apprentissage apporte une richesse supplémentaire non négligeable.
Les professeurs et employés y sont toujours à l'écoute de nos questions, problèmes, remarques; le bâtiment, moderne et spacieux, est situé en plein centre ville; et chaque jour des activités proposées par l'école sont prévues: visites diverses et variées, excursions le week end mais aussi bowling, patinoire et 'last but not least' la fameuse 'vodka party' qui a lieu un vendredi sur trois à l'école.
Seul point noir selon moi, le prix qui reste relativement élevé malgré la qualité des services offerts. Ayant effectué d'autres séjours linguistiques en Espagne et en Angleterre, et, m'étant renseigné sur les prix d'autres écoles à SPB, je me rends bien compte que le prix demandé est largement supérieur à ce qu'il peut être dans d'autres écoles et/ou pays pour le même niveau de services.
Quoi qu'il en soit, tant que les moyens me le permettent je retournerai avec plaisir chez L&D !

Magnifique experience a Liden and Denz!!!!!

Depuis plusieurs annees j'avais en tete d'apprendre le russe, je me suis donc renseigne et j'ai trouve Liden and Denz a Saint Ptersbourg. Je ne regrette absolument pas mon choix car les cours sont geniaux et interessants. De plus les profs sont dynamiques et ils vous donnent l'envie d'apprendre cette magnifique langue qu'est le russe! Au ;oindre probleme le staff est la pour les resoudre ou pour vous aider a les resoudre. Les activites proposees sont tres interessantes mais surtout tres chouettes! J'ai choisi de vivre en appartement partage et je ne regrette absolument pas mon choix car les appartements sont tres bien equipes et tres confortables!!! Je vous conseille a 100% cette experience inoubliable!!!

The best choice of language school

I decided to take a year abroad and unknowingly was i placed at Liden & Denz language centre. I'm very happy about it because I never expected to progress as good as i did due to the qualified teachers and all other helpful personal that is around. I started in February and just ended my course (December) and it has been a great ride from beginning to the end, the school helps you blend in, everyday frases not just the ordinary and very formal textbook Russian.

Jag bestämde mig för att ta en språkkurs utomlands och lotten föll på Ryssland för jag har varit genuint intresserad av kulturen, språket och folket. Ovetandes till vilken språkskola jag skulle till, jag fick information om skolan så klart men det är inte är inte lätt att tolka kritik över internet särskilt med dem förutfattade meningar man har om Ryssland. Måste säga att det har varit värt varenda krona, jag trodde inte att jag skulle bli såhär bra på ryska efter 11 månader och det är tack vare dem kompetenta lärare, administrations personalen och även annan personal som finns på skolan. Det är inte bara typisk formell textboks ryska som man får lära sig, lärarna hjälper gärna till med vardagliga fraser och fördjupar en i den ryska kulturen så man vet vad som händer när det är uppkommande högtider. ryssland har väldigt många högtider jämfört med Sverige och som ovetande svensk så är den informationen underbar. Skolan hjälper en gärna också att beblanda sig med dem andra studenterna som finns på skolan via härliga aktiviteter och även "vodka-fester" det låter lite hårt, Ryssland...vodkafest uppstyrd av skolan. Det är som en liten formell fest på skolan där dem serverar vodka och lite tilltugg och dem har lite charader och andra härliga spel. Om någon svensk läser detta och inte riktigt känner sig säker på om Liden & Denz är det rätta valet, oroa dig inte det är verkligen det.

3x dort gewesen 3x eine super tolle Zeit

Ich war schon 3x in dieser Sprachschule 2x jeweils 2 Wochen und einmal 5 Wochen. Und es war jedesmal alles einfach perfekt. Nach der Anmeldung bekam ich gleich alle Unterlagen für mein Visum und konnte ohne Probleme mein Visum bei der Botschaft beantragen. Am Flughafen war immer ein Fahrer der mich abgeholt hat und zu meiner Unterkunft gebracht hat. Die Unterkünfte waren immer super (große Zimmer, schönes Bad und Küche (in der letzten Unterkunft hatte ich sogar eine Sauna und das war im Oktober wirklich eine tolle Sache)). Die Schule ist super organisiert, die Lehrer motiviert und können wirklich gut unterrichten. Ich hatte auch Einzelstunden, diese waren wirklich toll, ich konnte meine Kentnisse wirklich verbessern.
Alles in allem ich kann die Schule nur empfehlen (Sonst wäre ich sicher nicht 3x gekommen und einmal sogar über 1 Monat)

The Best Language Course In St Petersburg

I have been studying at Liden and Denz for three months and have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. It is my second time studying with this school and I have once again been blown away by the high standards of teaching and personal approach. Prices on the shorter courses err towards the higher side, but they are more than worth the money as from what I gather, the quality of teaching is superior to any other school in the city.

Group lessons are separated into two chunks of 100mins; the first of which is dedicated to all things grammarian, while the second focuses on oral work. The class sizes are small and every student gets a chance to speak on a wide range of topics.

I have had four different teachers during my time at L&D. Sasha, Zlata, Dasha and Tatiana all have different approaches, but what unites their styles is a sense of professionalism, along with the prerequisite patience required to listen to students blundering their way through a minefield of motion verbs for the umpteenth time! The variety in teachers and their unparalleled prowess has allowed lessons to stay fresh and enjoyable for the duration of my three month course.

The administration team are equally switched on and are on hand day or night to help with visas, accommodation and activities in and around St Petersburg.

Finally, special mention must be made of Svetlana and her in-house cafe. I have traveled the length and breadth of Russia and suffice it to say that I have sampled bulochkas and chebureks from Ulan Ude to Omsk. I therefore think I am well placed to pass qualified judgment on the plethora of pastries that one can find in Russia. With this in mind, I have no reservation in crowning Svetlana's 'bulochka s djemom' as the single best pastry I have ever tried in Russia. I have been known to consume four of them in one sitting, and with good reason.

Many thanks to all the Liden team and I will hopefully be back for another course some time next year!
