INTENSIVE COURSES

The intensive courses are designed for groups of 5 - 10 students of a similar level and include lessons every morning and activities two or three afternoons during the week.

NUMBER OF HOURS PER WEEK
Four hours* a day (5 - 10 people)
*An hour of lesson corresponds to 50 minutes.

NUMBER OF STUDENTS PER GROUP
From 5 to 10 people In case of differences within a single class, the school may decide to divide the class into smaller groups* and reduce the number of
hours as follows:
3-4 people: three hours a day
2 people: two and a half hours a day
1 person : one hour and a half a day

*Small groups usually do more intensive work in class: the students therefore reach the same level as those in larger groups.

SCHEDULE
Classes: between 9 a.m. and 12:50 p.m.
Plus one to two hours of homework per day on average

COURSE DESCRIPTION
These courses are designed specifically for people staying in Italy over a longer period who wish to learn at a slower pace. They include either two lessons per week (Tuesday andThursday, or Monday and Wednesday) or four lessons per week (from Monday to Thursday).

NUMBER OF HOURS PER WEEK
Two lessons per week, of one and a half hour each (1-2 people) Four lessons per week, of one and a half hour each (1-2 people)

NUMBER OF STUDENTS PER GROUP
1-2 people (3 or 6 hours per week)
For larger groups, the number of hours is increased as follows:
3-5 people: two hours per lesson (4 or 8 hours per week)
6-12 people: three hours per lesson (6 or 12 hours per week)

SCHEDULE
Classes: usually after 5 p.m. (or earlier in the afternoon) Plus regular homework between classes

Language and Music/ Classical Singing
For language and music/classical singing, the language courses fall into one of the categories above but the program includes music or singing classes in the afternoon. The school organizes general and specific courses for learning and improving basic techniques of classical singing according to traditional Italian models; the courses are conducted by professional opera singers. Music lessons can also be organized for several instruments, in cooperation with the music school of Arezzo.


LANGUAGE AND GOLDSMITH’S ART/LANGUAGE AND SCULPTURE


The two-week basic course includes Italian language lessons in the morning (intensive course) + 3 weekly lessons in the laboratory of master goldsmith Carlo Badii.

Students will be able to choose among 3 kinds of courses:

1)ITALIAN LANGUAGE COURSE + REPOUSSAGE AND CHASING COURSE::

- BASIC COURSE: 2 settimane
Morning: Italian language intensive course from Monday to Friday
Afternoon: 3 repoussage and chasing lessons per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) of 3 hours each (total hours: 18)
- MINIMUM NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS: 1 student
- COURSE START: every Monday
- LANGUAGE LEVEL: from beginner to advanced

REPOUSSAGE AND CHASING:
The repoussage is a metalworking technique in which a malleable metal is ornamented or shaped by hammering or chiseling from the reverse side to create a design.

Repoussage and chasing are used in conjunction to refine a previously raised design on the front. A layer of melted tar is poured on the back of the design and after it cools down it is applied on a support called marble hemisphere.


2)ITALIAN LANGUAGE COURSE + GOLDSMITHING COURSE (WORKBENCH TECHNIQUE)

- BASIC COURSE: 2 settimane
Morning: Italian language intensive course from Monday to Friday
Afternoon: 3 goldsmithing lessons per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) of 3 hours each (total hours: 18).
- MINIMUM NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS: 1 student
- COURSE START: every Monday
- LANGUAGE LEVEL: from beginner to advanced


GOLDSMITHING:
The workbench technique allows you to realize objects of different shapes and styles and it can be used after acquiring engraving, smoothing and welding skills.


3)ITALIAN LANGUAGE COURSE + SCULPTURE COURSE

- BASIC COURSE: 2 settimane
Morning: Italian language intensive course from Monday to Friday
Afternoon: 3 sculpture lessons per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) of 3 hours each (total hours: 18).
- MINIMUM NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS: 1 student
- COURSE START: every Monday
- LANGUAGE LEVEL: from beginner to advanced

SCULPTURE
Students will work, along with Master Carlo Badii, on the fundamental sculpture techniques. They will start with creating bas-reliefs of ornamental motifs and then move on to the realization of a full-relief sculpture.
