Language in Dublin is part of Language in Group, which has two more schools in London and Totnes. Our educational aim is to help those who study with us to achieve their goals by focusing on the changing needs of language learners. Our Dublin school has a friendly atmosphere and prides itself on its newly upgraded premises and all year round customer service. The school offers homestay, shared house and residence accommodation. In addition to General English, we offer Intensive Express courses, English for Work, Dublin Cultural Experience courses, Cambridge Exam preparation lessons, Work Experience programs and methodology courses for teachers. The school is based in Dun Laoghaire, a small seaside town located 20 minutes from Dublin city centre by train.
General English at a Language in Group school is English for the real world. This is a very practical course, designed to help you become a fluent communicator with clear pronunciation, a wide range of vocabulary and good grammar.
Classes use a combination of traditional and modern methods and ways of learning. Be prepared for lessons with books, iPads / Apple TV… or just concentrating on lots and lots of speaking practice.
This programme is 20 lessons a week. If you want to add more lessons then try our Intensive English, English for Work or Exam Preparation upgrades.
To pass all exams, you need to be good at English and the 20 lessons General English part of the course will help you develop your grammar and vocabulary so that you can reach the next English level. The exam preparation course has 8 extra lessons aimed to accommodate the needs of high level students who are aiming to take a high level English Language Examination.
By learning about other exams, we believe students will better understand the requirements of their own exam through comparison and discussion. Each week you will reflect on and practise a variety of skills (reading, writing, speaking, listening). Friday lessons focus on exam practice and troubleshooting where you will work in exam groups on materials from the exam of your choice initially and then any issues that emerge are looked at as a whole group. Our one to
Our one to eight-week courses start any Monday from 27th June 2016 and the last course will finish on 19th August 2016.
Cambridge (FCE, CAE) – this is the group of exams which is recognised all over the world and is popular because it shows employers how much English you know and helps you progress from one level to the next.
English for Work is a combination of 20 lessons of General English with an extra 8 lessons a week so you will have the opportunity to improve all of your English skills. Everyone who works will at some time in their life need English and this programme covers a lot of the most common areas and subjects: applications and interviews, presentations, discussions and negotiations, formal and informal correspondence, socialising and networking.
This course really is about the English you will need and use – practical, every day English for Work. It is not about theory or teaching you about business. The full programme lasts eight weeks and you can start any Monday. Some of our students join for one, two or three weeks and others for 2 months. It’s up to you. If you are from the EU and interested in a Work Experience placement then this is the ideal course to take before doing that.
Our 40+ English Holiday course is an English programme for mature learners, who want a holiday with some language practice – and to spend time meeting other people.
Our course is based on Cultural Experience, which is an alternative way to improve your communication skills in English on a relaxed English course.
This programme was awarded the British Council prize for innovation in English teaching and is a great way for mature learners to refresh and practise their language skills away from the classroom and traditional methods.
The course is designed to make learning more memorable and to help you make the most of your stay. Each lesson is taught outside the school in a local place of interest and cultural heritage. Each day a special English lesson with a different cultural topic. You will be encouraged to learn new vocabulary and take part in discussions.
