Harrow College's EFL centre is British Council accredited and a member of English UK. We are also an official Cambridge and Trinity Exam centre. We offer part-time classes at five different levels as well as intensive courses, all available in a friendly and supportive atmosphere with highly experienced and caring teachers. We provide helpful exam preparation for all Cambridge English and IELTS exams. We test and interview each EFL student so they join the class at the right level. This will help you make good progress and will give you the best chance of passing your exam.

Business English - B1 Level / B2:

This course is for students who need English for their professional life at intermediate level (B1) or post-intermediate level (B2).
There are no formal entry requirements for B1; we will assess you to check whether the course is the right level for you.
B2: If you require a tier 4 visa to study in the UK then you need to have IELTS 4.5 to be accepted onto this course. If you do not require a tier 4 visa to study in the UK there are no formal entry requirements; we will assess you to check whether the course is the right level for you.
You will be in a class of up to 20 students. You will do group work, pair work and individual work. We use resources such as text books, dictionaries, the Internet, video-clips, CDs, DVDs, mobile phones and iPads to help you learn.

Preparation for Cambridge First:

This course is for students whose first language is not English, who wish to begin preparing for the Cambridge First qualification.
Preparation for Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)
There are no formal entry requirements. Entry to the course is decided by a test and interview with a teacher.
You will improve your English communication skills speaking, listening, reading and writing as well as study grammar and vocabulary in preparation for the Cambridge First examination.
You will be in a class of up to 20 students. You will do group work, pair work and individual work. We use resources such as text books, dictionaries, the Internet, video-clips, CDs, DVDs, mobile phones and iPads to help you learn.

Preparation for Cambridge Advanced:

This course is for students whose first language is not English, who wish to begin preparing for the Cambridge Advanced qualification.
This is the highest level EFL course we offer at Harrow College and most students go onto study in further or higher education or into employment. Cambridge Advanced is accepted by many universities in place of English GCSE or IELTS, although you should always check entry requirements with the university you wish to apply for.
There are no formal entry requirements. Entry to the course is decided by a test and interview with a teacher.

This course is for students whose first language is not English, who wish to begin preparing for the IELTS qualification in order to apply for university or higher education in the UK. The B1 level course is for students who are aiming to achieve up to a 5.5 score in the IELTS examination.
There are no formal entry requirements; we will assess you to check whether the course is the right level for you.
You will be in a class of up to 20 students. You will do group work, pair work and individual work. We use resources such as text books, dictionaries, the Internet, video-clips, CDs, DVDs, mobile phones and iPads to help you learn.

Preparation for IELTS - B2 Level:

This course is for students whose first language is not English, who wish to begin preparing for the IELTS qualification in order to apply for university or higher education in the UK. The B2 level course is for students who are aiming to achieve a score above 5.5 in the IELTS examination.
Depending on what other qualifications you have, you could progress to an Access to Higher Education course (a one-year course to prepare mature students for university). You could also progress directly to Higher Education, such as HNC, HND, an undergraduate degree or post-graduate study. This course can help you improve your communication skills in order to get a job or a promotion.
If you require a tier 4 visa to study in the UK then you need to have IELTS 4.5 to be accepted onto this course. If you do not require a tier 4 visa to study in the UK there are no formal entry requirements; we will assess you to check whether the course is the right level for you.

You can choose from the following courses:

EFL Entry Level 1, EFL Entry Level 2, EFL Entry Level 3, EFL Level 1, EFL Level 2:
Students whose first language is not English who wish to achieve the Cambridge ESOL Skills for Life qualification. Classes are available in the mornings and evenings. You will study for 4 hours per week.
There are no formal entry requirements. Entry to the course is decided by a test and interview with a teacher. You will prepare to take the Cambridge ESOL Skills for Life examinations.
You will be in a class of up to 20/25 students. You will do group work, pair work and individual work. We use resources such as text books, dictionaries, the Internet, video-clips, CDs, DVDs, mobile phones and iPads to help you learn.
There will be a Cambridge Skills for Life exam at the end of the course. There will also be written homework and progress tests.

General English - B1 Level / General English - B2 Level:
This course is for students who wish to study English as a Foreign Language at intermediate level (B1) or post-intermediate level (B2).
There are no formal entry requirements for B1; we will assess you to check whether the course is the right level for you.
For B2: If you require a tier 4 visa to study in the UK then you need to have IELTS 4.5 to be accepted onto this course. If you do not require a tier 4 visa to study in the UK there are no formal entry requirements; we will assess you to check whether the course is the right level for you.

ESOL:
ENGLISH FOR SPEAKERS OF OTHER LANGUAGES (ESOL) FOR ADULTS AND YOUNG STUDENTS
Take an ESOL class to help you study, find work and speak more confidently. You'll learn to communicate through speaking, listening, reading and writing. By studying with Harrow College, you'll gain a recognised qualification and can move through the levels as your skills improve.
If you're under 23 and want to study further, we can offer you additional support to improve your written and spoken English before progressing to mainstream education.

The range of courses will cover functional skills, English, Maths and IT and we'll develop your employability skills too.

We focus on improving your English communication skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening. There are also assignment classes in sport, geography, arts and science and a weekly maths and IT session.
You can join an ESOL course if you're a resident or seeking asylum in the UK. We offer intensive adult literacy courses, part time ESOL courses, offsite community courses and part time Basic Skills courses.
