The University of Toronto English Language Program offers 4-week and 12-week courses for adults: Academic English and English PLUS.  We also offer customized programs. Every year we help students from over 50 different countries further their language learning goals.


Toronto is a safe, friendly, fun and multicultural city; the perfect place to study. Students can experience Canadian culture first-hand by living in a homestay or, during the summer, enjoying campus life in the university residences. Our students benefit from access to the facilities and many of the services provided by the University of Toronto

We offer an action-packed calendar of social activities to promote friendship and enhance the out-of-class learning experience.  In addition, students can contribute to our magazine, @elp magazine, and volunteer in the local community. We also offer free University and College Application Support.

PLUS



Learn English to help you
communicate in everyday situations!  This course will help you improve
your general communication skills and confidence in using the English
language.  Studying in Toronto provides you with a great opportunity to
practice your English outside class as you explore the city and put the
language you learn into action.


You will tested on arrival and placed into a class most suited to your level.  We have start dates every four weeks.


For students studying in the
higher levels on English PLUS, you might be interested in extending
yourself further by taking additional PLUS courses from
the wide range on offer at the School of Continuing Studies (a language
pre-test may be required).

Prepare for an undergraduate or graduate degree at an English-speaking university or college. Develop the confidence that will help you excel in a challenging academic environment. This course will strengthen your language skills and academic strategies in reading, writing, listening and speaking. 

You will be tested on arrival and place into one of five levels.  Each level is 12 weeks.  We have four start dates a year.

"Grade B" or above in the highest level of Academic English (Level 60) satisfies the language-facility requirement for admission to undergraduate and most graduate programs at the University of Toronto.

Some other Canadian universities and colleges accept students from our Academic English course without additional language tests.

Advanced Academic English



Prepare for success! Develop and enhance your research and
communication skills for academic studies at a North American university or
college. In this course, you will build your existing English-language ability
using content that focuses on your chosen academic field.

Three start dates a year.

Prerequisites



For students who have met the language-facility requirement
of their intended university or college. Students will be asked to provide
evidence of a suitable grade from Academic English an IELTS or TOEFL certificate, or other
equivalent documentation. Students who are unable to satisfy the language
standard will be offered an alternative English Language Program course
(additional fees may apply) or a full refund.
