About Monash University English Language Centre (MUELC)

Monash University English Language Centre (MUELC) enables individuals to develop communication skills to the highest levels necessary to engage confidently and successfully in trans-national education and the global economy. MUELC has a wide spectrum of capabilities in language teaching and testing, learning development and applied linguistics and provides high quality services in the following areas: 1. Study-readiness - preparing students for undergraduate and post-graduate study, and 2. Work-readiness - preparing professional clients for communication in the workplace. MUELC is an operating unit of Monash College Pty Ltd, a wholly owned company of Monash University. Since 1988 MUELC has become one of the largest English language centres in Australia, delivering over 500,000 hours of tuition to around 2500 customers in 2007. In 2007 MUELC conducted study tours for over 75 overseas university partners, tested over 4000 IELTS candidates and taught 1500 students per semester in the ADEPT programme for the Monash University Graduate School of Business. The academic performance of MUELC students in the University is benchmarked against all other Monash students and MUELC students perform at the same level or better on average in terms of average grades and pass rates.
