I’m an American-born Chinese living in Singapore. I started taking classes to improve my mandarin, formalize my grammar, and expand my knowledge of various topics over the last year through a variety of platforms and instructors. That’s mandarin is my favorite, and Wu Laoshi is the best instructor! The content is easy to consume, and there are many different structures like watching videos, reading, flash cards etc. The pace, materials, structure of the class are all excellent and really work for me. The instructors work very hard to design the curriculum to best help you learn as retain information. They constantly listen to feedback and are so encouraging. This is an awesome program for anyone - beginners and native speakers alike. Can’t recommend them highly enough! It’s also very easy to communicate and manage schedules with the program via WhatsApp (which is my preference), and the staff & coordinators, like Kitty, are very nice and responsive.

Wonderful Program!

As a total beginner they have been very helpful in learning mandarin and has helped me to learn many survival terms along with important building blocks of the language. I thought with a language that has a large reputation for being difficult to learn it would be take me a long time to grasp it, but the progress I've made in my private online lessons with That's Mandarin has exceeded my expectations greatly.

Great program

This is a good school for learning Chinese. The facilities are great and their program is well structured. The teachers are patient and truly care. The lessons are engaging. Their strongest asset is their app which is easy to navigate. I truly enjoy the classes. I’m learning everyday words that are making my life in Shanghai a lot better. Definitely would recommend.

Excellent Learning Experience!

I have been super happy learning Chinese with 吴丹老师 (Teacher WuDan). I recently moved back to my home country and continued learning Chinese with That's Mandarin. The online set-up and materials were so convenient (nihaocafe) and the teaching style and speed are perfect for me to keep up with my Chinese as well and improve. I also studied with Teacher Wei in person before leaving China and truly enjoyed that experience as well! I recommend That's Mandarin to anyone looking for a practical and organized school that is professional and caters to your individual learning style!

Hassle-free and happy experience

I had a very pleasant and fun experience refreshing my putonghua Speaking and reading abilities with the teachers at Thats Mandarin. All the teachers are professional and are easy to converse with across some common topics and relevant current issues. Their Online learning platform is also easy to use which reinforces and enables ongoing learning.

All the staff there are helpful in our navigation of the city in terms of things to do and booking things. All in all a hassle-free and happy experience!

Great teachers and syllabus but quite expensive

My teacher (Wu Laoshi / 吴老师) is absolutely fantastic, really good at getting me to focus on practicing speaking, and keeping things at the right difficulty. She has an amazing ability to remember exactly my level of vocabulary and only use those words in our classes!

The syllabus of the course is also very well structured and supplements the HSK vocab with words that people actually use and are most useful for living in China. The set of videos and accompanying vocab is great.

The main downsides is the cost, which is quite expensive. Other than that the customer service (not the teachers) can sometimes feel a bit corporate/commercial. Also, the online portal is great but has a lot of bugs and is quite slow so after a while can be frustrating to navigate.

Very good

In Shanghai center .
Teachers are good , administration is super helpful.
Books are made by the school
Price is costly though but worth it if you really wanna learn Chinese

Really great school that makes learning Chinese become a lot more possible, with friendly and welcoming teachers, really useful and cute teaching materials and a great school with good facilities and activities
