If you happen to be in Paris for #Euro2016 matches why not explore the city? Don’t worry if you are travelling on a budget, here you will find a list of places to see for free. Paris is famous for the Eiffel tower, Notre Dame Cathedral and the Louvre museum but what else is there to see and for free?

Paris is the capital of France and it is located on the river Seine. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world and is not visited only by couples hoping by for a romantic time, but attracts also fans of art and architecture, fashion, sports,  foodies, curious tourists and more.

 

Admire the Eiffel Tower from Parc du Champ de Mars

While the trip to the top of the Eiffel Tower can be expensive (about 15€), it costs nothing to admire the impressive tower from the bottom. You can turn this attraction into a picnic by bringing a blanket and some snacks.

 

Notre Dame Cathedral

Notre Dame is a medieval Catholic cathedral, it’s name actually means “Our Lady of Paris” (Notre-Dame de Paris). Its construction was finished in 1345. Entrance is free, but there is a fee to climb up to the towers.

 

Walk along the Seine

This is of course free and certainly worthwhile. During your walk you can admire the Notre Dame Cathedral from a distance.

 

Walk the Champs-Élysées from Place de la Concorde to Place Charles de Gaulle

Take a walk down the most famous street in Paris and finish with an admiration of Arc de Triomphe which is situated at the Place Charles de Gaulle.

 

Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris

This museum is dedicated to modern and contemporary art. The entry is free for the permanent collections. They include works of Picasso, Matisse, Lehmbruck, Braque and many more.

 

Feast your eyes at Marché d’Aligre

Enjoy this food market and get to know French delicacies and produce.

 

Take pictures at the courtyard of the Louvre Museum

A visit to the Louvre Museum will cost you 15€, if it’s an expense you’re not willing to make still visit to take a look at the impressive building and the famous glass pyramid.

 

Visit Montmartre and see  Basilique du Sacré Coeur

Montmartre is a historic district located on a hill, it’s famous for the white Basilica of Sacré Coeur. Inside you can admire gold mosaics, stained glass windows. Entrance is free of admission, but you have to pay if you want to climb up to the dome or check out the crypt.

 

Take a walk in Parc des Buttes-Chaumont

Enjoy over 5 km of park roads with a grotto and waterfalls, a lake, bridges and get a chance to see the Temple de la Sibylle,
